Ultimateduner
Wow long time no see everyone! Hope everyone has been doing well anyways I'm looking to get my GF a cheap quad to ride with me. Anyone know anything about the Suzuki LT250s? I found one locally for around 600 bucks that's been modded to a 300 engine. I don't know anything about these quads so would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out with some information about their reliability, ease of riding, power, ect? Any help is appreciated! sheerider11
I don't know much on them either, my cousin has a 250. It's a fun quad. Kind of small for me, but would be perfect for a girl. The power on his was tame. Came in smooth and had easy pull throughout the band. He gets parts easy enough. No one really chases after the 250 Suzukis. All in all it's not a bad bike. Better then a blaster but nothing like a Honda 250r. The price is right Id take a chance if a look over checks out. Thanks for the insight! Yeah hes only asking 600 and I think I might even be able to get it for 350 bucks at that I figure if it runs it can't be all bad right? Ultimateduner
you are confusing the LT250R with the LT250S. The S is a 4-stroke. It should really last a while. Use to have a 185 and a 230, they were built to last. They lack power. Its probably the 2-stroke version I think?
sheerider11
I didn't even read that part. I assumed it was the 2 stroke. If it's the four then I definitely have no clue

BUILDER
All I know about them is the rear suspension is shit and I see them broke down on the dunes all the time. Yes that is a 2 stroke.

dave5.0
Carry extra water pump seals. Mine used to eat those.
sstaton1983
All the ones that I have messed with would burn up at about 15 hours due to crank seals leaking around the cases. I have seen 3 different ones die from failed crank seals, One of those got a new crank twice. A friend of mine tried to convince me they could be better then a banshee if all the weak points were addressed. He also said in 88 or 89 they changed to a better frame with a power valve motor. P.S it sucked too.
sprinklerman
Yea. My lt500r (quadzilla for the young guys) had all the mods done ( bigger head studs, welded cylinder base gussets, crank bearing sleeves, etc)...it was on race fuel ,22 psi compression..still couldn't beat my ported true 350 cc banshee. ..plus it was a PAIN to kick over. sstaton1983
The guys over at Sand Trax pull start every LT 500 that comes in...500 single with high compression FTS.
sprinklerman
85-86 lt250R were the same, case reed induction. 87 was jug reed induction, big reed motor. 88-90 was the same as the 87 just smaller reed. 91-92 had same motor, different rear suspension. all motors had powervalve. Im pretty sure the 85-6 lt250 didnt have a PV.
