.
Bump! They are now known as NBS distributing. Still putting ads in dirtwheels, just putting them under a new name. I guess enough people were stating problems with them around the web and they were losing business.....so they changed their name BEWARE!!!!!!!!! read below! Ordered a Top End kit from them 5 weeks ago today on a Friday, The 3rd of October. They said no problem, it'll be out to me in a couple days. The next monday I try calling them to find out a tracking number so I would know when to look for it. The phone is either busy, noone answers, or I get a fax/modem connection. When I get through to the voice mail I've left like 10 messages in the last month, with no response. I emailed them every day asking whats going on with my kit, and that I need a tracking number for it. No response from them at all.....until the 20th they email me. The same day that they put the transaction through to my credit card. They told me that they dont know whats going on with the kit, and that they got a hold of their postmaster and put a tracer out on it, and for me to get a hold of my postmaster to see what I can do on my end. So I email them back asking for a tracking or reference number to give to my postmaster so he can start looking for it. Phone them and leave messages, email them......nothing. Apparently they were feeding me a line of shit, considering they would of had to send the package out to me before they even put my transaction through. So I get an email from them on Friday, saying that the package was lost, that their going to contact their insurance agency....and that they'll send me out another kit on monday. I told them not to bother because I already went with another company because I was tired of being fed a line of crap. So what happens.....Of course I get no replies.....and I get a package that showed up today, 5 weeks later, in a cheap ass tyvek bag, with only one piston. How the hell am I supposed to rebuild a banshee with only one piston. Their kit said for two pistons.....and they send me one. I put in a dispute claim with my bank last monday so hopefully I can get my money back. Recreation Unlimited keeps on changing their numbers around, and their just doing shady business all around. Before the forums got changed over I did a search on Recreation Unlimited and found about 5 or 6 people just on here that have had all sorts of problems with them. It's horrible customer service and I'd be more than glad to go somewhere else and pay an extra 15 bucks and have someone answer the phone, email, get me the pistons in a week or so, and actually give me the whole kit. I saw the bag sitting there, and I'm like.....well its about frickin time.....pick up the bag and before I even opened it I could feel their was only one piston in there.....all I could say was figures. The piston wasnt even wrapped up. Just sitting in the wiseco box being banged around all the way from Virginia. Horrible Horrible Service!!!! Dont buy from them. fixitrod
I had a similar problem with nerf bars. I received them banged up. I called them and they said sorry but you have to call AC. Confused, I tried AC. Trying calling the ford factory if you have a problem with your ford truck... it's not easy. I eventually just sent them back but it took a couple months to get my money back. I sure as hell wouldn't put a piston in my shee that's been banged up..
cb67rs1
just wondering what type of pistons did you order? were they weisco pro lites? how much did you get them for? im just asking cause i got the pro lites i am running from my dealer for like 170. when i rebuilt mine a couple weeks ago. just wondering. i would check out the local dealer and see , sorry to hear about your problem too. thats really messed up
.
yeah fixit, you were one of the guys I read about. I got the wiseco Pro lite kit from them. I've talked to a couple places and can get them 150 shipped to my door with bearings. I paid 140 from Rec. Aint no way in hell I'm running a piston that came in a bag in its wiseco box. Even the box looks kind of banged up. I mean...the piston looks alright....but you never know if it created a weak spot or not. Not to mention they thought they'd be smooth and cram the rings, circlips, pin and bearing all up in the wiseco box as well. And I dont know what the deal is with them changing their numbers all the time. Half the numbers in the dirtwheels mag dont work, and the east coast 1800 number worked.....now that is disconnected....and I'm getting a busy signal for the west coast 1800 number. Their info/order number used to work a couple days ago....now thats disconnected......they dont have an ad in the new dirtwheels mag either. I hope they go fuckin belly up......and I hope my bank getting back my 140 bucks is what does it.

.
Who would of known, they have big ol ads in dirtwheels, and it seemed like a reputable company that probably buys in major bulk and thats why it seemed like such a good deal......figures that free shipping comes as pistons in a bag, or in my case....one piston
Cooker
It's too bad to hear that. They have a lot of chit for my old ATC.

.
Just thought I'd update and let others that havent seen this yet see it. Still only have half the kit. Still get no response from them through email or me leaving them messages on their voicemail (when I get a voicemail that isnt full or one at all). My dispute is going through with my bank, they credited my account for now, but it has to go through the whole process. At least its my banks money that they're trying to get back now, and not mine. I try to get a hold of them in every which way possible, and nothing. My bank says if they dont respond to them that it will become a fraudulant case and charges will be pressed upon the company, and not to worry about losing my money. All I want from them is my money back, and postage to ship the pistons back, and they wont even respond to that. Hey....maybe I'll have half a kit by the time its all said and done. 400grl
Stay far away from Recreation Unlimited!!!! We ordered a 13.5:1 compression JE piston from them for a Rappy - turns out it never showed up after being charged on our card. They said that whoever they shipped it with LOST it - and they would have to put in a claim on their insurance company!!! Now doesn't THAT sound familiar??? Also - something to note if anyone is thinking of buying a "custom" piston from them. Turns out JE never even made a 13.5:1 piston for them - JE tracks all the custom pistons they make, and none was ever sent. I have also heard stories of Recreation Unlimited selling 12:1 and 13:1 compression pistons as 13.5:1. We bought a piston straight from JE - no reason to go through a dealer. JE is awesome to talk with and gets stuff done pronto! Rec Unlimited finally did credit our charge card - took a few calls but it happened. Just beware people.......maybe they are ligit and just have some SERIOUS issues, but I won't ever do business with them again.
banshee2sick
I bought a set of plastic off of rec. unlimited, and it took about 10 emails, 5 phone call, and 2 1/2 months to get it. I wouldnt deal with them again if they were giving stuff away. I deal with motosport outlet a lot, and I am very happy with their service. They are quick, and have people working there that actually know about what theyre selling. That seems to be getting rare.
Cotton eyed Joe
What I want to know is, how do assholes like that get into this business, and grow, and make great money?? Its not just the ATV business either. MANY MANY machine shops around here that I compete with are the same way. They treat their customers like shit, and they still make the sales. I've been through a lot in the last year just trying to get my little banshee business going so I can grow. I sure as hell ain't gonna build it up to just have it nose dive into a pile of shit. It just amazes me what some companies do.
