hughmyron
So last time i rode my bike it ran pretty shitty weather changed a bit got a bit cooler, bike would fall on its face going into power band, when i would creep into power band it would rev out and sputter a bit. I had an incident and the bike took on some water. When i got out all the water from the cyl, i put some AV gas in it and it ran GREAT. Reved out perfect etc... NOW a couple start ups after the incident the bike falls on its face again i went from 310 mains to 300 mains then to 320 mains did the same thing each time. Also it revs out just fine in neutral but when i put load on it is when it falls on its face. Bike is all stock minus +4 timing, CPI inframes and pod filters. Premix i run is 32:1 klotz benol. My porter says it sounds like an air leak? What do you guys think? Going to leak test it tommorow regardless. What would cause a leak? Headgasket? Edited November 30, 2013 by hughmyron
quadgod211
I was always told if it revs fine in neutral..but busts up under a load then it 9 outta 10 was a spark issue....maybe stator or coil when you got it wet was it submerged?? peterlocal22
Yes, sounds like spark to me. How do the plugs look?
mhoksch
Sounds EXACTLY like my problem last year. Changer my spark plug boots and it ran like a champ Sent from my XT901 using Tapatalk now Free
hughmyron
Yes, sounds like spark to me. How do the plugs look? One plug has a bit more coloring than the other. But both caramel colored. I was always told if it revs fine in neutral..but busts up under a load then it 9 outta 10 was a spark issue....maybe stator or coil when you got it wet was it submerged?? Yeah it was. Maybe the stator took a shit. Pretty weird considering it doesn't act up on av gas. Think the timing plate loosened up or something? I have one of those cheap cast ebay timing plates. Im at work right now when i get home ill go do a leak down test.
Jereme6655
do a leakdown test, a compression test, and then swap the plug wires. Also i'd suggest pulling your stator cover off and checking to see if there is any water in there. And im slightly confused.....if you say your bike is completely stock, except for timing, and pipes and filters......why do you have a "porter?" The guy who ports all my buddies bikes and he will be porting my bike. Technically not my porter yet. But within the next month or so he will be. Thanks for chiming in. Im going to pull the stator cover off when i get home etc... 320 jets are too big at sea level for a bolt on banshee? The porter said it was. Jereme6655
yes....320 is too big. id say at 1000' above sea level with pipes, filters and timing (which shouldn't effect jetting) you should be in the realm of 270-280 mains and 27.5 pilot jets for around 70*. for every drop of 20-25*....it is recommended to go up by one main jet size. hughmyron
Welp only was able to pull the stator cover before it started to rain, and a good amount of water was trapped in there. Looks like i need a new stator
uman1030
Maybe test the stator with a multimeter. here is a link on how to do so http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=133650.
Jereme6655
whoa whoa whoa.....we never said your stator is junk after it gets water trapped inside..... Test your stator and if it still checks out okay.....clean that thing up and put some dielectric grease on the ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR and try it out. I've seen some up to the crank in water still run
wayne_smith97
That's true. I've seen some up to the crank in water still run[/quot Mine was running with A good amount of water in the cover and I didn't know it til my Cdi went out and was trying to chase down the problem. My first reaction was oh it's the stator just look at it but the stator was fine.
Larry's Shee
Pull the flywheel and clean the stator poles of the rust that is probably now on them, clean timing lugs on flywheel, set pick-up gap

Try this the stator is probably fine
