JayCLL
why not just sit on the bars? Lol I've seen that done.
Pasi S.
Factory stock seat 7lbs 6oz. (3340g) Edited December 3, 2013 by Pasi S.
fastkid
Where at you buying your carbon fiber Jay? I was thinking of doing that too. But if I could chop up a stocker to get down to just a few pounds I'd just do that. Thanks Pasi. You know Robs camo seat weight? Thinking something like that but shorter so it just sits on the subframe.
fappy'97
I'm sure robs seat weighs next to nothing. Doesn't look too bad either.
fastkid
Yeah I like the way it was cut down. If it's only a couple pounds I'll just save time and money and do that.
JayCLL
My buddy works with carbon fiber something light, looks nice and is free is perfect lol. Robs seat is pretty heavy, about 4 lbs
fastkid
Might just do that. Don't want to have to weld tabs to mount a custom seat.
troyzstang
Impressive still, what sort of times has that pos ran? I know Menz runs a carbon fiber seat, but has anyone else used CF on there ride, if so which pieces. Magnesium?! Brett's bike is certainly not a piece of shit. He and / or the sponsors have invested a shitload in that bike with great results. I think he's running 3.7 or somewhere in that area. Not bad for a N/A Raptor. fastkid
Easy I was only kidding. It is a nice ride no doubt.
Pasi S.
My DIY "drag seat" weights 1290g (2.84 lbs), I think it can be modded a little lighter, closer to 2.2 - 2.3 lbs. It´s aluminium, 40mm foam + "imitation leather". Edited December 4, 2013 by Pasi S.
fastkid
I believe I saw yours on atvdragracers and it's actually where I got the idea to do mine. Carbon fiber would be cool with some foam. Probably get one down to two pounds that way.
Glenyboy
why not just sit on the bars? Or simply sit on a pillow/cushion?
fastkid
Yeah I did think about those. For some reason it just didn't seem safe to me, have a screw back out and my ass is in the sand... Bikes in a tree lol

Pasi S.
Just thinking... where is the point, where the "looks" is more important than weight? (sorry bad english) I mean, I have seen pic´s about bikes that have maybe TI frames, but still "badass " looking front spindle mount-, and rear wheels.... and nice looking hoods with paint. How many have "machined" (CNC) the alum drag tank after it´s done? The soda can can hold the liquid and it´s thin as nothing. I´m not saying no one has done it, but never heard of. All "newbies" first say "why not aluminium?"... The people who know better says, that you need so much more aluminium to get same strenght(?) as CrMo TI ... , and you can build much lighter with CrMo. So my question is, why the best drag axles are made from aluminium, not from CrMo? ...and wheels for same reason. ( I know you can have Ti this or CF that custom made) (I´m just pondering with a lot of beer in my system )
