I just got my new Clarke mfg. tank direct from Clarke mfg. about $217, well worth it

it looks so much better than the IMS ones my pals have and it doesn't "look" as bulky

it holds 5.5 gallons, and with the factory stickers looks almost stock, little wider, little taller. looks trick with the cutouts for air flow in the side, rather than the IMS one....

highly recommended......

Do you have Clarke's contact info? I have had no luck with finding it. For that price it is worth my money for the extra ride time.

you think it guzzles gas now mcaf, wait to you get that portwork done with the stroker. What size carbs are you running? I forget. I want some of those taperbored 30's, they'd be the ticket. Better flowing means more fuel and more power.....I'm also probably going to go with the smaller IMS so I can still use my plastic.....if it gets really bad I'll go back to carrying gas in my backpack. It seems like a heavy thing, but after you get used to it you dont even notice its on the back. Was doing all sorts of crazy climbs and stuff I'd never imagine I'd be doing....and thats with 2 gallons on my back.

I used to carry a one gallon can and a 2 gallon can on my six pack rack but I no longer use the six pack rack since it bent my frame. And that's exactly why I'm looking into the tank now. Usually we'll ride for a couple hours and hit a gas station so I just carry oil but I know with the stroker and port I'll need the 5 gallon tank. I think I'm looking to go with the 28's tapered to 30 when all is said and done, but for now i'm looking to run a single 35. Take it for what its worth Trinity says they have run the single 35 up to 421 cc's, they even said my 33 would be fine with just a stroker. Hmmm, not sure how much faith I have in that.

I have the same story, cept my frame cracked.

 

Do you have to cut your front plastics for the Clarke tank ??

 

What color did you get ??

My frame cracked also but my buddy welded it for me, I also lost the 1 gallon can.

 

I too would like to know how much you have to cut the plastics. The clarke website says you do but not how much.

 

Not that I care too much about looks like the duners cause its just gonna get dirty but what color tank would go with the red and white 2000 color scheme. My tank cover is black with red stickers but I'm not sure how a black tank will look. A couple rides on my new stroker and I'll be crying for one.

Clarke tanks are good but I have to warn you guys that when I got mine I was diappointed because with my low carmichal bend renthals they hit on the top of the tank so I couldn't turn. I ended up getting longer stem so I could actually ride. I went with a +2 burgard stem.

The tank I got I had to drill out the bottom for the fuel valve, clean up all the extra plastic off where the two halves were molded together and you do have to cut the front fenders. They recommend you measure 12" from the rear of the of the front fender for the top and 11" on the bottom and cut it at a angle.

Other than that I get a lot of compliments and ride all day at the dunes. Their # is (503)-829-2156

I have a 2004 candy red w/white, so I ordered the white tank, and went to yamaha and got the factory stickers, so it looks stock. as for the turning radius, I still have the stock bars, and have no problem, lock-to -lock left to right. but I plan to run some pro-tapers, or a clone of them in the future, which will give it about a 1" rise I think...

as for cutting the plastic, it was just the side panels no biggie. and I did have to "play" with the holes and "clean-up" the mount for the petcock...all in all it took me less than an hour to install with no special tools....If I could do it again, I would maybe get the neutral/clear one, I find myself being used to the small tank taking the cap off and looking inside all the time, and being amazed at how much fuel is left. also noted that the stock cap will not fit the aftermarket tank, so those of you with the polished aluminum gas caps, may have a problem...
