Jrod324 Posted November 4, 2013 Report Share Posted November 4, 2013 K guys im giving my shee one last chance because today was an even worst ride then last weekend im giving my bike to a real mechaninc this time to leave her brand new like im getting her off the yamaha lot what im trying to ask you fellow gentlemen is for the following what do i have to do to maintain the bike to being in mint condition so i dont allow her to go back to riding like crap... Sorry guys i just figured yall would list lil tricks to keep maintained and running hard every time i take it out lol k today i ran it and it was running like shit i mean bad that i was ashamed to call it a banshee and turns out someone said i didnt clean the pilot jet area good that why i had no take off (it was bogging nasty) and top end felt like it was getting a kick the closer i got to the ending of the gear so thats why i s ing this time im letting a specialist mechanic just open her up and leave her new-ish im only on fmf pipes uni filter and reeds nothing more now i just wanna know any lil tricks yall know to maintaining her so i can always have her at 100% when i go riding thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

bluebanshee98 Posted November 4, 2013 Report Share Posted November 4, 2013 first off compression and leak down test. you will have to jet the bike correctly for the current temp for it to run its "hardest" . most people for trail riding will find the jets to be spot on for a certain temp and go up about 2 sizes on the main. however if you jet it for summer weather,in the winter your going to have to rejet due to the temp drop. you should clean the carbs and all the jets with compressed air and carb cleaner, make sure the carbs are synced. its pretty obvious that your not too familiar with your machine so take some time and research this site. learn about jetting, air leaks ect. everyone was in your spot at some point. once you have more knowledge and the bike is dialed in its just normal stuff like changing oil, plugs, chain adjustment, greasing things ect Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Jrod324 Posted November 4, 2013 Author Report Share Posted November 4, 2013 alright well for starters.. using the search here will give you LOADS of answers.. just reading random people issues and seeing what people commented to check etc.. for starters.... Make sure your carbs are synced (both slides open and shut at same time) Proper jetting is KEY to engine life Clean carbs meaning ensuring all pilots and passages flow properly. Float height.. your floats need to be set to a specific height... check it up and see what you need. Plugs.. are your plugs fresh, do you have a strong clean spark. Are you plug caps ohming within 5.5K if over their no good. Flywheel and pick up gap Fuel and oil mixture usually 32.1 or 40 to 1 is fairly common. Have you done a leakdown test.. most think this is over kill but a seasonal leakdown test can save your ass... Ive done a leakdown test on my engine every season (usually cause im stripping it apart for something.. but its good practice to ensure your seals are still good. Yuh i mean i got somewhat of the basics down but like how often do you clean them and when you clean them do you gotta break it down to every jet and carb clean it to the max or what because me and my friend cleaned them good except for the pilot jet i guess and yuh we mix 32:1 na i havent done a leak down test yet i guess thats what the mechanics gonna do and when you say season (how long does a season consist of)... what about the flywheel? Question for trails doing a 4mil is not necessary right because thats more drag? And is there any way to save some gas on the banshee like a fuel pressure regulator or anything....
