JDP421
Maybe a 12 inch shaw? Instead of 13 or 14 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
JDP421
can go look for a shorter shock. a lot of used work shocks floating around you can send out to get shortened and rebuilt... without a lowering link... you are pretty well limited to shock set up.... maybe a 12 inch shaw? sprinklerman
R6 or R1 shock will do that.
sprinklerman
R1 or r6 shocks do work.. but I dont personally recommend them for a dune drag bike... just my opinion... not sure how a shaw does compared to one but the r6 shock doesnt give much of a ride comfort I didnt know you did a lot of dune/ dragging ? The "comfort" level depends on the length of swinger you put the R1/6 shock on. I run one on a +10 and i have no complaints as far as "comfort" go. sprinklerman
If you run it on a link there's enough travel for your average dune-drag racer. I hit plenty of whoops @ LS with out bottoming out...and they weren't too little and the speeds were pretty good too. sprinklerman
Dont get me wrong, an R6 wont compare to a STD travel float or comparable quality shock, but it'll get you low and give you enough travel for everyday sand drags. slobanshee
Was Using an r6 shock on my old ladies bike with a +10 on it. She's about 110lb and it's to soft and bottoms out. With her +6 it was fine.

A guy I know has an R1 shock on a +12 and it is quite different. OP, you can do a Lowering Link for cheap, R6/R1 shock for a couple more bones( I have a mint one if you are interested). The next cheap option is a warrior dog bone. If you were handy you could even try making a strut. After that it can get pricey. Custom length Marvin shaw, find a nice rebuilt stocker that has been set up for a 10/12" swinger, a used shock you have sent out and set up for you, aftermarket shock used or even new. Funny how real world experience changes things. +10 and a NEWER R6/R1 is a very good budget combo. I liked it better than a lowering block because it doesn't drop the shock link down where it can drag in the sand and bottom out. It'll work on a +12 too,,if you aren't too heavy and the spring and shock are in good shape..but itll take all the preload you have more than likely. I'm 210lbs in gear and run 1/2 the preload on the shock (2009 R6) with a +10 and stock link. I don't bottom out and my swinger sits just barely above level. Like i said earlier, it doesn't bottom out over some nasty whoops,,but i wouldn't jump it either ( why you would jump a +10" i dont know.)
