coalhillking
If I want my banshee to do 75-80mph what gearing should I run? I use 20x11-9 tires on the back. I'm pretty sure I need a 15 tooth up front but which in the back?
DUSTY05
How fast does it run now? more info on your setup would be helpful also.... If your not turning your motor to its limit now at top of 6th.. taller gearing is not gonna get you any higher top speed.. coalhillking
It does 60 maybe 65 now and it pulls all te way through 6th gear no problem. I have a 15 tooth up front but didn't get a chance to count the back yet. It has dmc 916 pipes fresh rebuild and open air box

It has dmc 916 pipes fresh rebuild and open air box put a 16 on the front..But you are gonna lose low end power adding to the front or taking away teeth from the rear to gain top end... and id think u would be doing faster than 60mph to begin with??? special06shee
Top speed questions are dumb. But ill play along. If your bike is only going 60-65 now with a 15t front and pipes, something is wrong. My old BONE stock banshee went 72 one a garmin gps. What are you trying to accomplish by your top speed goal? Id much rather have a quad geared for the terrain im running on vs top speed. Besides, looking at your screen name i assume you climb coal hills? VERY seldom do you ever get out of third gear so whats the point of the high mph?

coalhillking
I don't always ride coal hills or in the woods. Sometimes I like to ride down the country roads. Why not be able to have a higher too speed when I want it. And it only takes ten minutes to change sprockets. It gets old riding te same thing over n over

Jereme6655
2 things first.... one .....if you are currently running a 15 on the front and only going 60....there is something wrong with your bike. Fix it and get jetting on that thing first. two...... There is no reason to go that fast in anything but a sanctioned drag race. Trust me....I get it....we all want to run our bikes hard as hell and see what it can do........but its not worth riskin your life over. And trust me....running down a country road at those speeds is risking your life. Yes yes....ive done it before. But that doesn't mean I warrant it anymore. Forget to tighten a hub bolt? Break a tie-rod? shear and axle? big pot hole? shear the wheel lugs? break a ball joint? Guess what.....if any of those things happen......your going to smoke a tree at 70-80 that your wishing to be going. At 70 mph......your dead when you smack that tree...... I know ill prob get flamed......but fuck it.....just want to get you to thinking of all the consequences before you do it. We already pay too much out of our own pocket to take care of moron kids who wind up brain dead from doing something COMPLETELY stupid.
RagunCajun
I'm gonna ignore your tires right now and recommend some pro wedge 2 tires and 15/41 gearing. youll only need 5th to do it considering you have enough power(60-70hp). The tires grow and they are a light combo with light wheels. It works good for dirt/grass drag racing here. edit*, just seen your mods. Nevermind the above comment in this post. You dont have the power to pull what i recommended. My bike did 72 with bolt ons and t6's on 19" hole shots. So maybe 14/40 gearing may get you there easiest. Without adding power, gearing for more mph will make you less quick in a short drag race. Acceleration/traction wins usually unless you do some long long races. Bennett131
so if you hit a tree at 60 you will be ok? lol
trickedcarbine
Funny jereme brings all that up. I was jumping a big hill where they were putting a new road and somehow made a castle nut pop off the threads and didn't know it till I was wound out in 6th. I held on and bought new ball joints and started asking GP guys about bike prep..... There's a whole lot more to it then just tuning and swapping parts. Jereme6655
bingo tricked.....the average atv rider doesn't have a clue when it comes to what they should be doing for maintenance and how often if they're going to push the envelope that much
Bennett131
I understand that but hitting a tree at 65 or 75 is there really a difference? probably not...open or closed casket maybe and we pay for a lot of retards now one more certainly wont break the bank lol and if he wants to go faster let him I don't recall him asking for a father figure haha im not trying to be a dick just saying
