mailman
I am working on a cub and the cases were ported so much that there is very little material left to properly seal the cylinder to the cases. One area of the base gasket surface is only .045" wide. What is the best way to go to add some more surface area to the top of the case so the base gasket seals? Weld and deck or epoxy? Finch
A lil case sealer spread on gasket and kick who ever made it that small
mailman
I put it together with sealer and did a leak check and it failed due to a leaky base gasket from the right side of cylinder base.
mailman
Here is a pic to show how thin the base gasket area is.

possum
mine was the same. I wont say who ported them but i just used permatex on gasket and seems to be holding tight
mailman
interesting possum. Thank you.I just think it is too thin to trust for long term. I will try epoxy and block sand.
J-Madd
Use the metal composite gasket and yamabond. Also, if the cylinders are ported that big and you don't trim the base gasket that small, it's a waste anyway.
trickedcarbine
Tig weld and block sand maybe even a piece of 800 grit on glass.
Coupelx
What jmadd said. Welding would be a last resort.
sleeper06
You chance distorting that and rolling it over with a tig creating a low spot, marine text is best but metal base and three bond will hold no problem I have put together so many nightmares like that with no call backs, motors running hard for two years or better
mailman
Awesome advise guys. Thanks. It is nice to hear from different people. Any idea who carries the metal base gaskets. I saw an ebay ad for some but they were too thick. I need a .020" thick metal base gasket. I know Redline only has paper in that size.
