registered user
anybody follow whats goin on in the gp world ? trying to understand why the 125cc motors only use 4 trans ports. someone made a comment one large trans port would be best but the rings wouldnt like that so they use 2 ports per side. aparently with 3 per side the dividers act as heat exchangers ? thats not good aparently. i know them gp guys get anal about even a loss of 1hp so what i dont understand is if the 125 bore was large enough for 3 ports per side would they still use 2 ports because with 3 the dividers would indeed become heat exchangers and knock down power ? Coupelx
With 3 ports in a smaller cylinder you are giving up transfer area with the "dividers". With 2 ports you can have more area. Just my .02c
