Ultimateduner
I heard a little while ago that they were going to stop making the banshee in 2004 and close the dunes because they polluted too much. The enviromentalists say that the 2 stroke motor releases too much pollution. How can they say that when a normal car pollutes as much as 5 banshees. Has anyone else heard this rumor? Badbanshee_boy
this has been posted to many times when it happens it happens there will always be parts
banshee2sick
I heard a similar rumor, but it was ALL 2 strokes by 2006. I saw an article where some states have already tried to pass laws like this. I havent seen any reliable information on the issue yet though. If they try to pass any laws like this around my area, though, ill be taking pics of every '76 caddilac el'dorado that's still driving around burning oil faster than it can leak, and bring them down to the senators office on the back of my shee. The problem here is that with the recent bad publicity that the sport has gotten, theyre killing two birds with one stone here. These laws will get the vote of the enviromentalists, the people against off road hobbies, and half the people who just arent educated on the topic. Sorry about the book, but laws with poor logic like this really burn my a$$
KEVPOPPAPUMP
Eventhough I like my Shee, 4 strokes have advanced so much in the last couple of years. If it happens, it happens! It couldn't be so bad having to ride a YFZ 450. 10 years from now you can tell youngsters a story: once upon a time when engines were 2 stroke....... Killer Boots Man
no one would even dare to pass that law there is way to many people that wouldnt stand for it like me. plus yamaha makes way too much money selling banshees and other two stroke dirt bikes
wvmudder
Too many companies make lots of money from two-stroke motors, just think if they ban 2-strokes, they are banning motorcycles, 4-wheelers, chainsaws, weed-trimmers.....and the list goes on. It may happen but I don't think that it will be in our lifetime. Too many other things in this world pollute more than 2-strokes. Two-stroke for life!! Wassup350
I cant imagine using a 2 stroke chainsaw or weedeater!!!! And itll suck if i want to buy a new sled they will only have heavy ass slow ass 4 strokes!!!! I want something that i can put a canister on it and it will be louder then hell. All i have ever owned has been 2 stroke quads and they kick ass compared to slow heavy 4 strokes. I heard that the bombardier snowmobiles with their direct injection systems come close or even meet 2006 standards though. If all the other companies would introduce systems like this maybe they could save 2 strokes.
KEVPOPPAPUMP
A Banshee might meet the standards with 3 catalytic converters on each pipe

STLBILL
Hi guys: Doesn't California already have a "<insert color here> Ticket Riding Season" that prohibits two-strokes in the summer months? Small (e.g. <50cc) two-strokes like scale model radio-controlled vehicles and handheld power equipment will always be allowed. Unless and until all our lawmakers have groundskeepers they won't want to lug around a four-stroke or electric trimmer any more than we will. A few lawmakers will continue doing their own yard work for the enjoyment so it'll never be a complete sell. Minature four-stroke engines would be a magnitude of ten more expensive to produce and maintain for small scale "radio controlled" purposes. Not withstanding the desert riders the small amount of polution a 350cc engine produces is offset by all the trees cleaning the air where we "pollute". This basic ratio is the foundation for automotive emission testing (or lack thereof) by county in most U.S. metropolitan regions. Lastly, If the Liberals don't stop sucking they'll implode <impatiently taps foot>. Regards, Bill
evil
excelant point bill and yes cali has a bs no riding in the hotter months because of the amount of pollution that goes on in those months. its a stupid law. but what can we do
bashee crazy kidd
2 strrokes gone..AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH i hope it dont happen in our lifetime.. but i heard it's gonna happen in 2006 too..really bites man. but yea 4 strokes have advanced so much it's kinda like a shee butnot exactly and now almost all the 4 strokes are lighter than the twos(2004 models).. i wouldent mind ridin a 4 stroke.... ill have to buy a new shee and save it until im like 60 then give it to my kidz to ride and let em feel what a real qaud ridez like especially when it hit's the pipes(powerband) maybe if we save sheee's or other famus 2 strokes like the 250r maybe they'll be worth like 20,000 bucks in year 2050 ....it's a possibilitie

Bansheerider99
Actually what I heard is that they are gonna stop making two strokes in 2006. If you buy a 2006 banshee then u can still ride it. Its still gay that they are gonna stop making them but by then I am guessing that the four strokes will be just as powerful and just as light. Sleds too.Thats wut i heard.
Ultimateduner
In addition to them stop making the 2 stroke Banshee I also heard that Yamaha was going to try to make the Banshee 4 stroke.( so that they wouldn't have any problems with pollution) But I don't think that thye would acually do that.
