Bennett131
ok so I have done a few searches on here cant find anything real conclusive but I am getting almost like a backfire out of my right pipe and its smoking a little more as well its not too noticeable but the noise its making is and it idles fine and it also runs fineI have done a leak down test its all good and I just replaced the plugs and got the same thing any ideas on what it could be? I am ordering my carb sync tool to check that btw thanks for the help in advance
Strm Trpr
So you plugged off both exhaust flanges and one intake boot and pressurized the other intake boot and your leakdown results were good? If so, then I'd start looking into cleaning the carbs and jets really good and also make sure your floats are set correctly. What carbs and jets are you currently running? And make sure fuel flow is not obstructed in any way.
Bennett131
I pumped air into my exhaust ports with the intakes plugged with my spark plugs in I put 7 psi into it and it dropped 1 psi in 20 mins and im running a 30 pilot and a 340 main I cleaned out the jets last night and put them back in and im running stock carbs with tors im going to eventually get new carbs so I wasn't that worried about getting rid of them
Strm Trpr
Have you checked your reed pedals for damage? What do your plugs look like? What mods do you have? Is your exhaust sealed throughout? Have you done a plug chop?
Bennett131
reed petals look good they are v force 3s I have a cool head 19cc domes Toomey t6 exhaust k&n pods no air box timing plus 5 and plugs are dark brown and dry

Bennett131
air screws turned out 2 1/4 turns but if it were a jetting issue wouldn't it do it on both sides not just the right?
Strm Trpr
Try swapping ignition wires from cyl to cyl and see if the popping moves from right to left. Check the air gap of the pick up coil on the stator. It should be .019".
Bennett131
i did that and its still on the right side and my gap is .020 all i have left i guess is sync them better and clean them out real good just havent got a chance yet
Strm Trpr
check compression? Is the "back-fire" noise when you're getting on it going thru the gears, or on decel? And have you properly done a plug chop?
Bennett131
its only noticeable at idle other than that it runs fine and I have done a plug chop a few actually and they look dark brown and are dry
Bennett131
well I think I may have found the culprit as I stated previously my reed petals looked good however the one corner of the one was not closing completely leaving about a .010 gap between the reed cage and the reed I never noticed
