ledofthezep
Alright guys,...I'm stumped...my shee started this the last time I was at the dunes a couple weekends ago. Shee starts & idles fine, revs ok until WOT,...then shee starts spitt'n & cough'n and won't completely rev out. I can leave it in neutral & hold the throttle wide open & shee revs up but spits & coughs out of both silencers. Here's what I've done so far: --cleaned air filter(only aprox 2hrs riding since cleaned last)-no luck --checked plugs(looked fine, put new ones in anyway)-no luck --unhooked torrs control assembly-no luck --removed carbs(were clean, cleaned anyway, removed jets*270's at aprox 300' above sea level* & made sure they were clean)-no luck --made sure carbs are exactly in sync with each other-no luck I haven't checked the compression yet, bro in law ran off with my checker... I'm thinking about swapping coils with my '99 but haven't yet... Anyone have any suggestions? Am supposed to be going to the dunes this weekend so I need to get this figured out asap or I'll be staying at home. Please help, I'm stumped...thanks in advance.. fixitrod
Did you try messing with the parking break switch by the clutch? Maybe just bad gas. Also, check the grounds. Maybe the coild ground.
boonman
I had the same problem with my bike a couple times, and it was the coils primary wires that had come loose on the terminals. A quick squeeze with the pliers, and a little dielectric business on there and I stuck them back on. It worked like a champ. Your 270 sounds a little lean, although I don't know your setup.... Especially being near sea level. Choke tube in place? Slides in the right way?
ledofthezep
Thanks guys,...I don't have the parking break or stock clutch perch anymore so that's not the case...I'm definately going to check on the coil & see if that's where the problem is. And I know I need to rejet(oil fouling plugs every 4-5hrs or so),...have pipes/toomey 2:1 air filter/mild port & polish, milled head. I'm thinking I should be around 310's...but I've never had any issues--until now, it happened like someone flipped a switch on it. So I dunno? I'll try swapping out the coil w/the one from my '99 and see what shee does. If I have to I guess I'll take it to the 'banshee man' at the local stealer & see if he can finger it out. Will keep you all posted...THANKS A MILLION!
Banchetta
Temp is getting colder so you'll need larger jets.......also disconnect the little black box above the left exhaust?? I agree w/ Boony and check the orange and black wire on the coil.
