2003 dodge ram hemi won't go into 4x4

I have a 2003 dodge ram 1500 hemi 4x4. It has the turn knob on the dash. It worked fine last winter. I just tried to put it in 4 wheel drive to get out of a field and the knob turns but it doesn't engage. I put it in neutral and still won't engage, (high or low).

A few months ago before I discovered this problem I did take the trans pan off and change the filter and filled the trans back up. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Solenoid that engages the transfercase is probably stuck. Its usually a round black solenoid on the side of the transfercase. Tap it with a hammer and you should hear it unfreeze and move.
