raxen Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 I need some help on the selection of pipes for heavy trail riding and the occasion mud play. I planto run a 420 with nitrous and haven't picked out the carb(s) yet either so things are still pretty flexible. The nitrous thing just was inspired the other night when I say (2) 250R's and YFZ450 strolling past my house. This phenomena has continued for the past week. They will get theirs soon. I just need to blast the shit out of them. I sure that nice new billet mounted taillight will look real nice 200 ft ahead of a YFZ450 and some 250R's. Quote
Big Blue Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 If you are planning on going with a 420 i would get CPI's. Quote
Hiram Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 I have the CPI's with my own porting, they are awesome and I love them, but let me warn you that they will shift your powerband way up and make it a little more difficult to trail ride with the light switch upper power delevery they give. Like I said I love mines and it takes a little getting used to but once you learn where the power band will kick in it's no bad at all. Quote

You don't need a 420 or nos to beat a 250R or YFZ. Get some midrange pipes. 99nhbanshee has a 420LR and has DMC exhaust. His shee hauls ass, but he just spun a lower bearing on the crank. You might want to get better bearings and weld the crank.... Personally, I'd get midrange pipes, cool head, to start. That'll wake it right up and makes a HUGE gain from stock. Try that and go from there.... Quote
