kenr74
Well, if you don't have the money or the time to fix it I guess it's better to trade it and then you at least have something to ride. I'm selling my 2000 right now so I can rebuild my 1999.
cb67rs1
first off what wrong with it? man unless you screwed the crank up these motors are pretty cheap to rebuild.
Badbanshee_boy
i know all about the engine its just i dont have a job and im getting my licence soon so i need a car. i just cant belive im doing it
banshee2sick
Assuming you'll have to pay for your own car/gas/insurance, youll need to get a job soon anyway. Since winter is coming up fast, why not get your car and then save over winter to buy parts? If I had to pick one I'd take the money, since that seems to be the major issue here, but youll be sorry later if you go either way.
Badbanshee_boy
im getting another shee sometime next year, but i want a truck thats gonna be reliable and durable. i still dont know
.
I say go throw it in the corner, with the thought in mind of how much it will cost you to get it back together. Throw a cover over it and forget about it. Go get a job, concentrate on school, and save a dollar here and a dollar there. If you ever go to buy a soda.....dont. Go find a water fountain, or a sink to drink out of. Take that dollar and put it in your savings to get the shee back together. If you sell it your gonna lose money on it.....you can lose now.....and lose later when you get another one (you know you will eventually), or you can set aside....and deal with priorities. Instead of buying a cool ass car that will cost 2 grand more......go buy a reliable junker (chevy, buick, pontiac 3.8 engines will run forever)......save save and save some more. All you need is something to get you from point a to point b. You'll have plenty of time in life to have cool cars and cool toys. You'd be amazed at how much money you can save by not buying stupid little stuff. Instead of buying a bag of chips for a buck.....go get an apple for 50 cents or whatever.....go eat a slice of bread.....it dont taste as good....but it'll give you the same nutrients and food in your stomach until your next meal. I'd never sell my banshee.......they couldnt even repo it because it'd be scattered across states by the time they try to come and get it......and it wont come to that....because you learn how to be frugal. Not to mention christmas is on its way and your bound to get some moolah to throw at the banshee.
cb67rs1
i still dont understand, you have one now, is it paid for?? im telling you, you will regret getting rid of it. keep it, get a job, buy your truck, and then when you have enough saved fix the shee. think of what you can do with it saving all that money a new one would cost you. you can make it look brand new again and make it haul ass. personally i would keep it, but the decission will be up to you,

.
or you could just rebuild the top end and put the 400 a port job would cost you into a truck.
Badbanshee_boy
yea but if i can get the money i might as well get the port job while its apart
cb67rs1
you will spend more for a good port job than you will on a new piston kit and boring. just something to think about
BdBanshee
You can do the top end with new pistons, rings, wrist pins, gaskets, and the cost to bore to the next size for about $200. Porting is going to cost you quite a bit more on top of that. If you want more power on a budget, have the head shaved while it is apart and advance the timing 4 or 5 degrees. This will give you almost 5 more HP for not much $$.
