Fastassbanshee96
Ok so I am finishing my drag build. It's a 485 cheetah. While waiting on some front suspension to cone in I figured I would try to fire it. It on m1 alky with bean oil running 32-1. Timing is +7 and carbs are 39pwks with 120 dumps 124 main and 60 pilot. Pjs are wide open. Needless to say I got it to fire and seemed to be running fine. I blipped the throttle a few times but nothing crazy. It only ran for maybe a min before it shut off on its own. Went to try to restart it but the kicker or motor is locked. Took the head off and everything looks to be ok, no big gouges or deto or anything a bad the domes are covered in alky. Haven't pulled the clutch cover yet but does anyone have an idea on what could have happened? I'm supposed to be racing in 1 week so trying to get this figured out. Please let me know what you guys think.
LT ROOKIE
The gear on the back of the clutch basket is broken
locogato11283
Did it ever kick back on you while trying to start it?
Fastassbanshee96
No never kicked back or anything. But there are no pegs on it right now so I'm sure I was over kicking it. Think that could have anything to do with it?

Fastassbanshee96
Yeah I'm going to pull the cover and see what's up. Hope it's not the crank or something big.
J-Madd
Aside from your assumed clutch/kicker gear problem, the 0.124" mains won't flow any more than your 0.120" dumps. It's not hurting anything, but just know that it might as well have 0.120" mains in it.

sheerider11
That I did not know. Thank you. But I figured it out. The timing key broke... And locked the motor up?
Fastassbanshee96
I think when It blew up a piece got wedged in somewhere. I had taken the clutch cover off and clutch out and didn't notice anything so I figured it was the cylinders/pistons so I put a wrench on the crank and turned it over slowly by had. Heard a little bit of a grinding / rubbing sound so that when I figuered I'd tear it down and found the broken key.
