watz Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Now that winter is hitting the upper north, how many people here rejet? I run 280 mains with toomeys and uni filter. It actually runs a bit rich in the summer but this is the first year with pipes and cold temps for me. So I thought I would see if I REALLY need to rejet for winter? A few friends don't rejet they just richen the pilots a bit...Didn't know if that was any good or not.... What do you do? Quote
BenBB Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 I rejet for winter, sometimes more than one jet size on the mains, just depends on how cold it is (mine has about a 20 degree sweet spot, over or under that and it's rich or lean). Remember that when it gets colder you'll be running leaner with the same jetting, but if the temps don't drop in your area drastically (like more than 40 degree F) you may not need to rejet at all...but if you're borderline on the lean side now and it gets real cold you could risk some damage... watz Posted November 11, 2003 Author Report Posted November 11, 2003 **************************Update***************************** I talked to the local motorcycle dealer, he said if I run 280's in the summer I should run all of 310 and maybe even 320's.... I switched to 320's rather be rich than boil a piston. So all you kat's in the middle of the mid-west running piped shee's 320's for winter snow fun! -Watz Quote
