Bike is a bitch to start

When my banshee is cold it is an absolute bitch to start, I kick at least 30 times before it even wants to start and when it does it turns off within 5 seconds then I start it again, and it turns off again, everytime I start it, it stays on a bit longer till eventually it doesn't turn off.

I recorded a short video of what I mean:

Also I turned the knobs on the tors half a turn, does this idle sound too high?

rejet for colder temps?

it's jetted for cold temps.

old fuel

Fuel is only 2 weeks old.

what he said if you still have it.. didnt think of that seeing msot people get rid of it right away

Well I haven't had any problems with it yet so I don't see a need to spend money on changing it just yet.

wait......you say its jetted for cold temps, but your out there taking the video and it doesn't look cold.  Is it jetted for cold or for warm. OR is it jetted CORRECTLY for the current temps.  That idle sounds low to me.........Id check jetting first then id raise that idle.......these are 2 strokes....not 4 strokes.  They need rpm to run.

How can you tell if it's cold or not by a video? We're in the middle of winter at the moment. Only thing is my riding spot is 4000ft above sea level while at home (in the video) it is 100ft above sea level.

thats an extreme change and alt. imo id check your jeting and scub/check your carbs to start .then post you mods ,temp, alt and there some smart dudes on here that'll get yah close.

goodluck

Only mods are dmc 916 pipes and k&n filter with lid on and no holes. Riding temps are between 40F - 65F

I bet if you went to your riding spot it will start easy.

No, it happens at my riding spot, I made the video at home cause the problem annoys me a lot.

Hard starting issues are a sign that it's too lean on the pilot, or your air mixture screws are open more than they should be.  What size pilot jets are in the carbs?

They're 27.5 pilots. It used to start easy but over the last few months it's like its just getting harder to start.

With a compression gauge.

-Unscrew spark plug, screw in comp. gauge. Try for gauge with threads about same length as spark plug if possible.

-hold throttle wide open.

-kick.

-kick.

- a few more kicks. One last one and make sure gauge doesn't move. And one for good luck after.

-maintain the open throttle position during the 3 previous steps.

- read gauge.

-report back and let everyone know what you have as a reading.

Will do, will any compression gauge work? Also does both spark plugs need to be removed, should engine be cold or warm?
