demonspeeding1
I WAS WONDERIN WHAT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CARBS ARE... LIKE FLATSLIDE AND ALL THEM AND WHAT THE BEST ONES TO GET ARE LIKE SIZE AND FLATSLIDE OR NOT AND IF I HAVE TO MOD. ANYTHING IF I GO TO A BIGGER SIZE? THANX FOR ANY INFO
PassionRE
Flatslides provide better throttle response. As for size, if your mods are done properly you can go with bigger carbs and lose little to no throttle response. I personally prefer the Keihin carbs, they just seem to dial in alot easier...Jim
demonspeeding1
what about the 2 into one carbs?? do those work better?? as for size what should i get? i have pro circuit pipes, v-force reeds and spacers, boost bottle, over sized radiator, thats pretty much it for now... what size carbs should i get? and what kind? PassionRE
With that set-up, I would reccomend the PWK33 Keihin's. That way later down the road when you decide to port your motor for more power, and you will, you will have enough carb to handle the additional intake flow requirements of your porting...forget the single carb, to me, thats almost sacrolige...Jim
demonspeeding1
kool... what is PWK stand for?? is the 33's you were talkin about are they flatslide or??
PassionRE
PWK stands for PART WITH your KASH. yes, flatslide design....really nice carbs...Jim
demonspeeding1
would i need any mods to put those carbs on? or should they fit right in?.... would they work with my v-force reeds and spacers? one last thing... how should i jet them with the way i have my set up now..? i live in michigan so air isnt to thin at all (if that matters)
PassionRE
Whats your elevation? The carbs will fit your manifolds although they will stretch out a little and eventually you will be forced to upgrade those manifolds. Your reeds are just perfect and will do nothing but make those carbs work their best. I would guess stock pilot ,and around 160-170 on the main for a slightly rich mixture...Jim

Banchetta
Putting carbs on w/o porting will lose performance. Trust me. I spent over 350 bucks to lose 8hp using 34mmPJ's...... Even ported stock carbs lost performance. the stock intake is perfect w/ the stock carbs. If you plan on porting later, the hold off and buy the carbs after you decide on what port to go with..... demonspeeding1
well i need some carbs NOW cause mine are junk and all that .... so if i have to get new ones i might as well get good ones ... and i plan on porting and upgrading in the future sooo.... ?? confused again
Justintoxicated
whats wrong with your stock carbs? Also how much better are the 33mm PWK flatslides keihin's vs the 34mmPJ Keihin's? A local place quoted me $300 for the 34mm PJ's w/ free dyno tune. But they don't sell the 33mm carbs. I Have porting on the way thats to passionRE, so I just need to decide which to get. I have some time to decide though Thanks, JI

I have plans to get the bottem end back together this weekend, SDD from the forum is coming by to help me out. So reeds are more important than carbs? I was thinking about just having my stock reed cages ported for whatever kind of reeds I want, as was the offer. Not sure how much difference there would be between ported cages and new ones though.
