gearing starting point

Well just did a few 300 ft sand races on my bike and ended up finishing the races in 3rd gear pinned. Not really where I want to be. The bike is a stoke cylinder bored over a few running on alcohol with a clean up port maybe dune not sure, 35.5mm carbs and rdz small bore oof, no lockout or override, also tires are 24 in 12 paddle extremes 78 ro. Weight of bike is probably that 230-270 pounds and I weigh that 190. Starting in 2nd gear.  Frame is a gt performance strutted in the back with a Swing-arm that is around a +10. Currently the sprockets are a 15 and 41 and stock primaries. I know how it works less teeth out front more acceleration and the exact opposite in back. But I'd like a good place to start before I go blow money on sprockets. I think I have a 13,14,15 lying around somewhere.
