possum
I thought every build is to the customers needs. This is the BIG misconception. Builders dont have time or are not making enough money on it to build it exact to your setup and needs. All "builders" have "off the shelf" builds 95% of the time. Pre ported, domes pre cut. etc.... Call one of them and ask to get real porting and or real domes for your setup and ask what it will do. If they know what they are doing they can explain the difference and it will cost alot more. The problem is everybody wants it cheapest compared to fastest. Imo if you want a serious dm call Mat Shearer. He is doing stuff on another level. The best costs. I bet Jim at Passion has more race winning motors out there than Shearer!

locogato11283
Haha, you must be smoking from the same pipe as Jim. What races/series does Shearer have winning motors in? I know Jim has a bunch of flat track/oval race motors out there.
So Cal Suspension
oh for christs sake... lol, you and this "race winning" shit... lol... how many records does any of jim's junk have? none? Shearer built my 535, and I have won two consecutive national titles with it... national dune racing association and national neighborhood racing association. I'm a two time national champion. bluebanshee98
If its a redline dm give me a performance update. That's who im considering do mine. Just trying to do some research firstYes cam built it. It's a redline 10dm on race gas. The motor kickass for sure. I would highly recommend him. I had him make mine more for torque. I could get a lil more peak hp if I wanted to but id rather have the torque. Gotta decide what your going to need more of and what your going to be doing with the bike. It makes some good #s and if your gonna be using alky it's gonna be more powerful. Call cam
SlowerThanYou
Just trying to be an educated consumer IMO, to be an educated consumer. You need to research/study asphalt racer's, their set-ups & their builder's. Most of our asphalt education came from ourselves. Plus, working closely with numerous different builder's to help build & change our set-ups. I need one setup for 1/8 mile asphalt on alky. Just trying to find the right builder for what I'm trying to do. That's why I'm asking for personal experience. I thought about k&t but I'm a lil skeptical that they have cylinders already ported ready to go. I thought every build is to the customers needs. K&T has a good amount of asphalt experience. The other builder's that have it are not Sponsor's here so I will not mention their names. You are conflicting with your last 2 sentences. You are implying you are wanting cylinders already ported ready to go. Then you think every build is to the customer's needs. IMO, your cylinders need to be ported to your needs and that's the only way it should be done.
LT ROOKIE
What I was referring to is when I called k&t they already have cylinders ported ready to go. I don't feel comfortable buying a cylinder already ported. I would like the builder to know what I am using the cylinder/motor for and build me the best motor possible for my needs.

Sorry, I misread that sentence. I would not feel comfortable with that either. Our newest motor is from K&T & they set it up the way I wanted.
