jredsbanshee91
i have a 96 banshee that wont spark it has toomey t5s vitos carbon fiber reeds, k&n filter, tors removed, key removed. it has a brand new stator, pickup, coil, end caps, plugs, flywheel, cleaned the grounds and still no spark! it started over the weekend i went riding and it went good for about an hr then it started spittin and sputtering and couldnt get it to come up in the rpms at all, then it died and i couldnt get it to start back up. i pulled cover off and 2 outta 3 timing plate bolts came out and ruined the pick up and dinged the flywheel so i replaced everyhting including the ignition coil. still no spark i tested all the new parts and they r within spec the only things left r the cdi and the voltage regulator but i beleive thats just for the lights right? ne and all help will b highly appreciated!!! i wanted to ride this sunday but thats not gonna happen ;(

jlaits
I had to cut away some plastic on my rm pickup coil. Try a ground wire from motor to frame.
jredsbanshee91
ok weres the best spot to put the ground? under a head nut or someweres else?
toytech
I used the bolt that holds the clutch cable holder, and the other end to the coil mount.
jlaits
I put mine from the clutch cable holder to the upper rear fender bolt right under the seat.
jredsbanshee91
ok i made the ground cable and no difference. i got my cdi box in the mail today and hooked it up....no spark go figure im about ready to bring it to the junkyard.....i checked all my wiring again and the stator is makin power all the way to the cdi (i checked with a test light i wont have my ohmeter/voltmeter till tomoro and yes it was very bright wen it lit up) i tried checking the orange and black coming from the box and got nothing while my brother was kickin it over....so i suspect that theres a signal wire somewere thats f****ed up and not signaling the cdi box to send spark i relooped my key switch, tried looping the kill switch and eliminating it and nothing.....i got soo much money in this thing and i cant ride it i dont have very much money now so i gotta figure this out. is there wires im overlooking? and again all i have is the on/off switch hooked up, im gonna unwrap the harness from the stator connector back and see if maybe theres wires messed up or cobbed from someone b4 me im gonna rip my hair out!!!!! jredsbanshee91
noone has nething? should i try removing some plastics from the pick up or do u think the rm pickup is junk? wut pick up can i buy thats decent? and i had a guy take a look at it he tested every circuit with his snap on tester and everything was fine. is there neway u can test the pickup besides resistance? the coil isnt getting ne signal from wut we could tell so either the pickup isnt reading wen to fire or the cdi is junk right? even tho i tried 3 cdis and they all changed nothing
