bore?

Recommended Posts

Is it worth boring then putting a steel sleeve in?

That is how most older big vote kits were done. The machinist would press out the older sleeve, bore the cylinder appropriately for the big bore sleeve and press it in and maybe deck the top of the jugs to give a clean flush surface. Is it worth it? Not any more. There are so many after market set ups out there now that if you really want more displacement/power then what a stock cylinder can do for you it's less headache and more reliable to just get a new set up.

To get back on track i think the op was rrefering to after market cyl and the ability to trail ride them. your refrence to a 421 possibly refered to a 68 bore. the super serval is 72mm and should cool okay. you might be able to get a big block twister 78+ since these are sleeved and cnc ported i would asssume you could get a non race port. What about a superioi sleeve or trex cyl? how big are their bores and water jackets?

I didnt know the stock cylinder already had a steel sleeve. I thought it as just the cast aluminum

You have steel rings, they woukd have eaten the aluminium very very quickly. So yes they have steel in em already.
