turbowrenchhead
I'm pulling the clutch cover when my water pump seals come in. Then I can inspect part of the motor. Maybe I'll get lucky and the problem will be under the cover.
turbowrenchhead
I pulled the clutch cover today to replace the waterpump seals just to cover my bases. The billet waterpump gear is chewed up. This accounts for the excess metal in the oil. The teeth on the inside have damage to them. The damage only extends 1/16" of an inch into the gear. Whats the fix? Go back to the stock plastic?
turbowrenchhead
Forgot to add that the crank drive gears look perfect.

WOW......better figure out what's going on because the plastic gear sure isn't going to hold up better than the billet.

m671054
What primary ratio you running? pics of assembled cover/wp assembly. ive found it is usually assembler error.
Starwriter
So, do you mean the face of the waterpump gear got against the crank primary gear? Did you forget the washer that goes between the snap ring and the waterpump gear? Or any chance your crank is separating or crank bearing going bad? What is the primary ratio? I'm running all stock gears in the engine. I've changed the clutch housing, water pump gear and drive to billet. According to the oem fiche I should have it all assembled right. The crank bearings are new.
turbowrenchhead
Its hard to see the damage in the second pic. Its more noticeable when looking at it in person.
