wesw Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 ok heres the deal my bike has no top end now. after put a timing plate, i was checking jetting now if i hold it wide open if falls on its ass.but at any other throttle position it runs great. i have 340 in now plan on trying 360 but am having doubt that is the problem . i did pull the chock out and didnt notice any thing. thanks for the help i live about 1000ft, Quote
BansheeBrian Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 I suggest going down on your mains instead of up.Sound like your feeding her too much fuel through the mains.Try 330 or 320's and see if she falls flat. Quote
WickedBanshee Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 if the only mods you have is what you got listed then you are way too rich. Quote
KEVPOPPAPUMP Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 At sea level with T5's and Toomey 2:1 intake, I was running 310 normally and 320 in Glamis and it ran tits! JFYI Quote
motox570 Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 if all you have for mods are pipe and an air filter, wow your way to rich. you should be 260 or 280 (with mikuni's i'm assuming) stock 30 pilot and about 1 turn on the air screws. also is your snorkle off? if not it should be. C Quote
Screamin_Banshee Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 stock 30 pilot? Actually the stock pilot is a 25 Quote
MRMOONEY Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 yea stock is 25 go to 27.5 with air screws at 1.5 turns out and 320 mains should run great Quote
motox570 Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 oops, sorry about that. stock is 25. had a brain fade. C Quote
Screamin_Banshee Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 340's are way too big at 1000 ft. Im at 1000 the most I ever used was a 320 w/ clamp ons. If you still have your lid on try a 290-300, start w/ the stock pilots and do an idle test ( new plugs idle for 15 minutes- w/ no throttle blips, kill it, read plugs ) and adjust accordingly (sp?) wesw Posted October 31, 2003 Author Report Posted October 31, 2003 my combo is t5 with v force reeds. air filter with out lid. head with 20. timing plate at 4-5, lighten wheel. what is killing me is that it ran like a top with 340 in but after the plate and wheel, and the weather change it has dropped like 30 degrees so i thought it would be needing a size bigger also after do a plug chop with 340 the plugs were clear like brand new so i thought i wouldnt hurt. also needle in the 4th pos Quote
Banchetta Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 I thought I had a jettting problem once w/ my friends shee. I changed the jetting 3 times to figure out it was only the Tors.....If it ran great before then I can't see why timing and a lightened flywheel would affect it, unless your timing is too far advanced. You might want to check that. Also make sure your flywheel didn't sheer the key after you installed it or if the nut loosened up. I've seen it happen to a lot of people. The tors is the little black box above the left exhaust w/ a 3-wire plug. Disconnect it. Also check the parking brake switch on the handlebars. Pull it off and follow the wire towards the gas tank and disconnect it at the connection. Quote
lincster Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 Here is where I go the other way. I have almost the exact same setup except with 2:1 air filter. I just put in 370s and it runs awesome at 1200' in Phoenix Az, so it will probably run better at Glamis as the weather gets cooler. Alot of people are afraid to jet big, but keep going up until it stumbles at WOT, they you are too big. If it ran great at 340s and then like crap after the plate, then it is not the jetting. Also, you were on the right track, it temp dropped 30 degrees, you need to go up on the mains. JMO Don't forget, a bike will run very crisp when it is lean, just not for long. Quote
wesw Posted November 2, 2003 Author Report Posted November 2, 2003 I DONT have any tors they are removed. what gets me is i put the plate on at the dunes with bdbanshee who sold it to me. it ran good. i got back and cleaned the sand out of everything and took it for a ride a week later and noticed at wot it isnt right. you think with 5 deg of timing and 20 domes which gave me 150 psi when i put them on is too much for 91 gas which is the best i can get in ks Quote
lincster Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 It might be. I do run 50/50 race/pump gas with my setup and I don't have the advanced timing. Although 150psi compression is supposed to be ok with pump gas. Quote
Banchetta Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 What do you mean by cleaning the sand out of everything??? Cleaned the sand out of what? Quote
