theputz
Hey guys, Need some help, took my shee out for its first big ride since my build and have some quirks to work out. Since I had it dyno'd I dropped the mains to 160s and the plug looks better. My issue currently is a small bog just before powerband kicks in. I notice it the most when cruising around in third then trying to open it up. The bike gets hung up then cleans up if I stab the throttle. I am going to assume the needle is lean but thought I would ask here first. Here is the build list: 421 Serval Noss head with FAST 24CC domes 35MM Kehin Carbs (160 mains, 50 pilots, CEL needle in middle clip) VForce 4 UPP Intakes with stock crossover tube FAST Pod ait filters with outerwears FMF Fattys (will upgrade next year) FAST Clutch Mattoon Timing plate @ +4 Mull Billet water pump gear Chariot Billet Impeller 94 Octane gas with Klotz R50
WINDYCITYJOHN400
Another post of a 421 Serval not hitting the 80/50 numbers. (Get in line to blame the pipes.) Why is your motor not dialed in correctly if you had it on the dyno? That's what you do on the dyno!....Dial the damn combo in. Bike should run mint before you pay. rubberneck
im thinking too fat on the needle, try dropping the needle down a notch and see what happens. It looks awefully fat in the mid range there on that graph
RadarRacing
I dont know who dynoed this thing for you but 2 strokes will look lean till they hit the powerband on a dyno. That 16-1 afr at 40 mph actually IS lean for a second due to the dyno having a load on the motor , not revved , carbs wide open. That is normal but can scare the pants off a guy thats used to dynoing 4 strokes. What you wanna look at is when the bike starts revving. It appears rich on the needle but cleans up. If you get it tuned better the top graph will move farther to the right and not peak at 8,500. It will peak at a little higher rpm and your peak hp number will change slightly. It will actually show a little higher peak rpm and hp due to the pipe getting hot quicker too. If I had to guess its pretty rich on the needle.
