Wyobansheerider
Few months ago my flywheel came loose and destroyed the coil pick up and stator. got it all replaced and fired back up without the side cover on and all was fine. Tried refitting the stator cover and it hit the new coil pick up and shoved it into the flywheel and destroyed it. So I replace the pick up with a new one and now it runs like total shit. Alomost like the park brake rev limiter is on. Checked its wiring and low and behold it was grounded. As soon as you unground it it dies and wont restart. This is where it gets fun. Ive tried unhooking the other switches and it still wont run. Any ideas? Im wondering if the cdi is wasted?
Starwriter
So, do you have the red/black key switch wire grounded? If not, there's you problem. It needs to be grounded to run. The park brake wire is green/yellow, in case you got things mixed up. It needs to be NOT connected to ground. Any chance you sheared the flywheel key when shit hit the fan? Wyobansheerider
Yeah it did shear it. but all is new.It could be the wires. the key switch seems good as soon as I unplug that pig tail it dies. the damn thing will only start with the park brake wire grounded. Starwriter
Weird. Maybe something crossed up in the harness? Maybe a bad CDI? I can't imagine that a cheap aftermarket pickup coil could cause that. You didn't mention where you got the pickup. You set the pickup coil gap, right? Maybe see if you can borrow an oem stator and CDI from somebody to try.
Wyobansheerider
Its a f-n rm stator coil. damn thing ran beautiful until I put the cover back on this last time. Nothing else in the harness has changed that im aware of. im gonna dig a lil deeper tomorrow and see what else I can find. Gap is around .016". I sold my last banshee to a friend with a rm stator pick up and stator a few years ago and after pulling his hair out he changed the stator and pick up again and wouldn't ya know all was well afterwards.
