opinion on running 100LL fuel

Recommended Posts

I've been running it for quite a few years with no issues. Once you get away from the full bean oils it stay mixed pretty good. Never had any go bad. Half the time it sits for months between rides. Usually cheaper than race gas. I would think being aviation based it would be more consistent than other fuels. But could be wrong.

Exactly! I run most of my small engines on 100ll and have zero carb issues when I need them again. It'll tune leaner than race or pump gas because its oxygenated and it seems to not mix well with bean oil in my experience.

avgas 100ll is low lead av gas, you can get av gas 100/130 which has double the lead and a higher octane rating.

shelf life of a sealed drum for avgas is 2 years.

I've never seen anything but the 100ll in the couple states I've been in Andy. I wonder if they even have that here? Or if its smthn they do in your corner of the world?

i think they used to have the 100/130 over there as it was the standard, but it was probably phased out due to the high lead content and thats why LL came out.

on my side of AU we dont get LL, only the 100/130  (tho i havent bought avgas in about 2-3 years, they might have it now) but other places around AU do have LL. as well as 100/130.
