89mustang
Hello new to the website. I just purchased a 2000 and it's bone stock. When I first got it the previous owner had done a top end and just about all the hose clamps were loose! I checked all the clamps and tightened them. Tonight took it for a ride and was getting on it pretty good when I got home and shut it off it started puking coolant out and sounded like it was sucking air. I did a search couldn't find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Starwriter
Could also be a chewed up water pump gear or impeller.
89mustang
Is there another place to order a radiator cap besides the dealership? They want $36 for an oem. Neighbor has a banshee going to grab his cap and try that first
89mustang
Is there a way to check the water pump gear or impeller?
BUILDER
Only way to check the impeller is to pull the cover and look at it.
Starwriter
There are a couple ways to test if it's doing something or nothing. Pull the radiator cover plastic off. Make sure the radiator is full. Start the bike up from cold and rev it up a bit. After about 2 or 3 minutes, put your hand on the radiator and feel if it's getting warm. If it's cold, put your hand on the head. If the head is hot and the radiator is cold, the water pump isn't pumping. Another way that has been mentioned here is to start it up and pull 1 of the cylinder drain bolts, rev it and see if coolant shoots out 3 feet. I've never tried that though. toytech
Could also be a chewed up water pump gear or impeller. check at autozone, the lower pressure, caps of from toyota's will work. take it in and match it up.
89mustang
I ran it today and and both the cylinder head and radiator both were warm to the touch idling. Couldnt get the radiator cap today
trickedcarbine
Could also be a head gasket leak. Do a leak down or use a compression gauge that shows pressure loss .
89mustang
I checked the oil in the case it's not milky. I have a brand new compression tester. Would pressure testing the coolant system be a better to check
noonansar
The case oil is for the transmission only, it is seperated and sealed off from the combustion chamber/cylinder/crank area. So a leaking head gasket wouldnt show in the case oil.
dozer
But a leaking o ring will allow water in the trans oil.
