BansheeBrian
I was working on this with Banchetta earlier and then the HQ was shut down for services. We agreed that i should cut 1 1/2 inches off the rear of my air box lid.My shee needs to breath a little bit more. I have 290 mains in her now but i will have to go to 300-320's for the mod. Do you think i will need to change my pilot jet?
Banchetta
I didn't have to on mine, but it depends on how much you've been restricting it to. The air box is restrictive to the midrange pipes and even more on the high revs. My answer is tune it in w/ the stock pilots and get the best jetting you can, then try the next step up. It'll either gain or get worse. A richer pilot will start better, but could hurt or help the throttle response. Trial and error Brian. Let us know how you make out. 2001SSTBanshee
If u dont want part of your airbox open, you could try the airbox vents that have foam to stop some dirt.
BansheeBrian
The back has been cut and i bumped the mains to 300. The TORS has gotta go soon it's a pain to work on carbs with them on. The pro-circuits only were able to breath through the lid, snorkle off. It makes sense the high-revs need air to perform better. I ride(show off) in a sand pit every sunday and have faith that my air filter setup will stop any debris. I will give her a test run tomorrow. BansheeBrian
It fired right up on the first kick. The idle was higher than normal and that was rectified with airscrew/tors knobs.Carbs were just a hair off synch and adjusted.Hell of a growl under the seat with the lid cut. These pipes woke up from a dead sleep. Very strong top end. The plugs were rich but not overwhelmingly. It's 74degrees out when this took place. Tomorrow will be around 60. Is that possibly enough temp change to lean me out enough?? Of course I will do a chop or two at the pit but it's just a question.
Banchetta
Every 20 degrees out is a main jet size....If your only 1 or 2 sizes too rich then leave it. Winter is around the corner. Unless you want to rejet next month....
BansheeBrian
What a great day at the pit! I had to goof with the airscrews twice. Myself and another shee owner put on a heck of a show for the younger riders and 4 stroke owners. The "banshee only" climbs are just like what you have in Saco. They were an absolute breeze with the airbox cut and rejetting. Everyone was surprised with how well the ol'pro-circuits ripped. Thank you for the help on this.
Justintoxicated
when I added a K&N, removed my lid compleatly, and FMF pipes, I went up to 320 mains and left the pilot stock... Runs just a tad rich in the day (Desert) then runs possibly a tad lean at night (Desert) The temp drop at glamis is huge from day to night. I don't see anyone re-jetting to go on night rides? BansheeBrian
Sounds like a good deal. Sounds like jetting can be a real pain at glamis. Once your dialed in just right the freakin sun decides to go down and lean you out. Very impressed with the air box mod.
