stoicho75
I have a 97 banshee boyeson reeds, reed spacers, boost bottle, tors removed, fmf expansion pipers, It starts up fine and idles fine but smokes like a freight train and does so when reving as well, its kinda boggy but at WOT it run absolutly great,I understand its a two stroke but at lower rpms i feel like something is just not right, I trial ride and i can foul a set of new plugs in about four hours ( normaly the left hand but the right is sure to follow), my mains are 290s and my pilots are 25s, i have no clue as to needle size, 160 psi in both cylinders, and run 93 oct with klotz 40:1, also i have no idle screws and when i pull the choke it doesnt really effect it all that much I bought it about three months ago like this and am trying to get it lined out thanks! oldskool
I would clean carbs thoroughly if you have not done this. If your fouling plugs, its to rich. Your bog could be needle position or needle jet too large or even your rich condition. Your plugs should be a tan/brown color. 160 psi might not work on pump gas. Check your squish band also. If your in the mid to low .040, i wouldn't run pump gas
stoicho75
The carbs have been cleaned very well, and i understand it being rich, I didn't figure the factory pilots would be causing it? could bad crank seals cause it or the slides being in the wrong carbs? I plan on doing a leakdown test soon. Like I said it runs great at wot but lower rpms are boggy it smokes a ton at idle and fouls plugs like an mfer if I'm not wot constantly
oldskool
Leaking crank seals would cause leaner conditions, your describing very rich condition. Air screw all the way in is rich, backing screw out will lean mixture. Do small adjustments

stoicho75
i might have to i suppose, i adjusted my floats and it made a world of difference but it still seems a little rich of idle
hoppedupandcutdown
not the floats' job, ARE your slides in backwards?
Zillaguy
What is the condition of the needles and seats? Are the needles slightly grooved on the tip where they contact the seat? if so they could be leaking and overfilling the bowls which will cause a rich condition... That may be why it changed when you adjusted the floats... I had an old Husqvarna WR430 2 stroke, and that thing was pig rich, and wouldn't take a tune, i found the needle and seat to be bad... stoicho75
I couldn't tell u if they were, might be a stupid question but which slide goes to what side, and needles and seats might be a good idea
Uf21
I couldn't tell u if they were, might be a stupid question but which slide goes to what side, and needles and seats might be a good idea When you look at the slides there should be a notch at the bottom of it. when putting the slide in the notch should be facing the airbox and the slides only go in one way so if the notch is not facing the airbox, its on the wrong side. Someone correct me if im wrong. Like this:
