Lock up Clutch ?

over rides trans are what you dont down shift with

 

Thanks buddy ! I do lots of Trail Riding down here. Would you recommend it ? (Lock Up Clutch) I'm almost done with one of my bikes. If all goes well I should be around 80hp to 85hp.

after about 70hp, shifting under power a stock trans with or with out a lockup isnt going to happen.

 

ive got a got a driveline lockup on my 55hp stockish bike. makes the clutches last forever

So what would you recommend with my setup? I mostly Trail Ride im really not into Drag Racing.

you got a 85hp motor but not into dragging?

 

your going to need some clutch upgrades, wheather its a lockup, or a combo of better fibers/steels, stiffer springs, or even a 8 plate clutch or the stock 7 plate.

Lots of Torque buddy. I currently have on now a Tusk HD setup. I need the power to get out of these tight turns. Ill post some videos later once I get my Go Pro and you'll see what I'm talking about. I have a Regular Stand Up Banshee with crazy power off course. Every once and a while we will line it up with the buddys. But thats not the route I'm going for.

Thats nothing theres a buddy in the group with a Raptor 700 93hp Trail Riding . Popping wheelies on 6th gear.

Camatv does stock trans mods.  Lockup clutches allow the fibers to be clamped together harder as rpm increases.  Over-ride Trans's are meant for drag racing (however there are a few people who run a dunable over-ride in trails which is slightly more forgiving) the reason being is that you can shift while under full load of the motor....without clutching.  However there is one thing that is not a good idea with it.....and that is back-loading.  Back-loading is when you downshift and release the clutch to allow the motor to assist in braking.  Also called dynamic braking. 

 

There are 2 possibilities when it comes to a lockup.  One being a direct drive style and one being a gigot slingshot.  The direct drive style uses bolts/nuts as weights and uses rotating speed to pull the arms up and press harder on the clutch pack.  The weights are changed by replacing the bolts/nuts.  The gigot slingshot mounts under your stock cover (sometimes a little grinding of some nubs is required) and uses ball bearings to set the strength of the pressure on the clutch pack.  To ease the pressure, just remove one of the 2 balls per slot.  if that's still too much you can remove all the ball bearings from EVERY OTHER slot.  Very adjustable.
