Synikal Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 Is there any way to polish the bluing on the pipes off once they become that way? Quote
txblueshee Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 Take an S.O.S. pad and rub it on there hard w/ some aluminum polish (just like you would everything else). Then wipe it in, then repeat the process w/ just a regualar cloth. Bluing is a sign of leaness though. Mike Quote
evil Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 go to the local shop and get some blue away, harley shops usually have it. later Quote
2001SSTBanshee Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 I thought pretty much all pipes turn blue, even with correct jetting. Quote
evil Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 I thought pretty much all pipes turn blue, even with correct jetting. mabey a little discoloration from heat but blue and gold are bad signs, my sst's havent changed colors at all. later Quote
Synikal Posted October 31, 2003 Author Report Posted October 31, 2003 Could they be bluing because I'm running too small of a jet? Quote
evil Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 when the motors to lean it will change colors, and yes a bigger jet will fatten it up Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 I don't know if this means anything...I've seen pipes nearly black at the header. Some seem to be yellow, and I have one buddy, that got his pipes chromed after he ran them for 3 years, and they are perfect. I don't know why. We ride like crazy, and his pipes look show room. He'll barely clean his air filter, so I seriously doubt he's wiped his pipes down with anything. Quote
