oldskool
Yep, another one of these threads. I'm seeking advice in gearing or anything that helps WIN. My buddies 250 has: 370 kit built by FTZ alky overide stock swinger Tires? rider 165lb My banshee ( getting it back together soon) 379cc built in my basement pump gas 1 thru 5 overide Prowedge II 22x11x8 or ohtsu 501 20x10x9 studded +6 swinger CPI exhaust drag port stock cylinders 34 mikuni's rider 150lb we will be running on hard pack. (300' or 500') what gearing should I run with each tire choice? Now who would you put your money on. I have never, never beat this guy, but we haven't run since I went +4mil. possum
The gear chart is good for changes once you have a baseline. You can also aim for a mph in 5th gear. Tire size changes gearing drastically of you play around with the chart.
oldskool
Yeah, the chart is interesting. Beast, would you leave in 2nd with a 1 thru 5 overide
okbeast
Yeah, the chart is interesting. Beast, would you leave in 2nd with a 1 thru 5 overide Weighing 150 lbs, absolutely. Unless you end up racing more than 500 feet then you might need more gear.
thomas h.
He is on alky. You need race gas and timing then it will be close. More compression and alky you will win. Or cheetah cub on pump gas
WINDYCITYJOHN400
379? Is that because you bored 30 over? Gearing ot not....your not beating that Honda with your combo.
thomas h.
Builder told me alky is worth 13-17+ hp
thomas h.
He also has more torque too
RadarRacing
Drag ported cylinders are really gonn have a big loss in torque on pumpgas. I dont see where if the 250 has a stock swingarm how he would beat you. Use the studded tires and even with stock gearing 14/41 it should run over 80 mph and you wont be doing 80 in 300 feet with your bike. The only thing I really see wrong with your setup is the +6 swingarm is too long for hard pack but either of your tire sets should bite well enough to do well. Alky is NOT as much gain as you stated. It is usually said to be as much as 10% gain.
