Buying a new banshee got some Q's

Recommended Posts

I am looking to buy a new quad and I cam across this banshee on CL:

It looks very good and clean, but he has no receipts for the build, but he does have the old pistons. Should I be hesitant to buy this? I will be doing mostly dunes and fast trail riding. Will a banshee like this be reliable for me if i preform all the proper maintenance?
Here are the pics he sent me:

i txted this guy last weekend......there were some concerning factors I ran into.  He also told me his lowest price was $2800.  What concerns me is the 28mm carbs.  First off I asked what kind of aftermarket carbs they were....he couldn't remember what brand they were and had to get back to me.  About 2 hours later he said they were Mikuni carbs.  What raises the flags.....the pic looks like stock carbs.......which are 26mm carbs.  Second......ANY bike that I have built....I can tell you EXACTLY what parts were put on the bike.....ive never had to go back and look at the bike.  Also a little farther down he also says it has the TORS eliminator kit........which is only for stock carbs.

Is it a clean bike....hell yes.  Is it what he says it is.....could be.  But my concern is that he may not have built it himself and may not know exactly what was done to it.

ps....he also has a '07 cr250 he was interested in selling for $2800.

I think itd be worth looking at. Read up on here how to identify parts (markings etc.) and just look over the bike REAL good. Have the ad on your phone if you find something it doesn't have knock off some on the price.

Dude, you killin me with that avatar. That's one fucked up pic

 You would be surprised at the guys out there that don't know what they got. It is a nice looking banshee. Good luck with your decision

Bike does look clean.

* Looks like stock carbs

* Engine is not polished

* Garage floor looks to be covered with tire shine. Must have soaked the bike in it :)

* Paddles are backwards ( good eye toytech)

* Doesn't list as a bike with title ?

Go look at it and get a feel for his knowledge of the bike. If he built it you'll be able to tell.

Good luck

Troy

Everything looks better when it's wet. Once that thing dries, I bet it's all scratched and frosty looking.

Stock carbs for sure.

And I know $3000 is great in some peoples areas...but I could get a lot more for that price.
