airbox or splash guard

I am currently running open filters on my eyes and I want to install something to help prevent water from getting in. Does anyone have any insight or pictures that could help me out. I no longer have the factory air box or the tabs to mount it.

I am curious as well, I have uni filters on my bike. I also ride in some wetter areas where there is constant splashing through puddles. Any clue if a cover is needed?

Thanks, Brad.

Mmk...for ppl that care ab their motor do ur self a favor nd run an air box if ur goin through water or mud. If a k&n gets wet it sucks the oil out of it losing sum of its ability to filter the air. Me nd mine; i like all the protection i can get to ensure the longevity of my motor nd a whole lot less cleaning of carburetors. To.each their own

A splash guard or air box is definitely needed! Mine had open k&n when i first got it. One tiny lil splash from a 4 inch mud puddle nd i knew that for a fact. Bought a new OEM airbox nd run with no lid 10x better.

Do the Uni filters fit in a stock box? Would it be better to buy a factory box and get a DMC powerup kit with my pipes?

i was riding in mud identical to zilla's photo without dirtying my pods...

here is a small pic of me ice racing with pods.. I was worried they would freeze up from the snow dust but they stayed dry.

you might not think snow dust is that pad or looks bad.. but that shit gets everywhere and piles up FAST.. it melts near anything warm and almost instantly ices up once it hits something.

I believe ya, I am a hard core snowmobile rider and it adds up quick.

yea thats for sure...  I mean you still need to be aware that you have pods.. by no means do i recommend to go mudding or test your limits but if you ride and avoid the mudholes when you can etc... their more then safe.

Pretty sure I will pick up an airbox, just added security.

Thanks, Brad.

Windycityjohn has some good dealings with open pods and not having problems.  That guy has described putting his bike through stuff that I wouldn't take my womans 4stroke through much less my banshee.

Im also picky about my motor.....ive run through mud, sand, and dust so fine and dense that I had to stop and wait for my riding buddy to get AT LEAST 1/2 mile ahead of me......never had a problem.  The one thing you MAY want to do.....if your constantly jumping your bike or taking hard hits.....find a way to make/fab up a bracket to support your pods.  I took a HARD hit last year on the year and knocked a pod off.....leaned me right out and started to melt a piston at the last ride of the season.
