10milmike
Hey guys, I want to try something different this summer. I want to asphalt race. My bike is set up for hillshooting, 15/42 gearing 2-5 override. with first gear still. I have a few questions, can I get by with my override with out 6th gear. And tire size what should I run? Do they only make the American Racer tires in a 10 inch rim. I see they sell 18x8-10, 18x10-10, 19x8-10 and 20x10-10. Ok now I would like to know the diffenence in tire sizes. what should i run? I have a 10 mil cheetah with a 8 in swing arm. "yes I will be running a wheeile bar" Should I but lowering link??? where can i get a chain guard??? My track my house want one, what gearing should i run with out 6th?? ANY HELP WOULDBE GREAT GUYS.. Thanks

SD and Mat was telling me somewere near escondido. I really want to do it this summer. going to have mat build me a wheelie bar. This is probably the place your talking about & we took 2 quads there in 08. Our home track is the Strip in Las Vegas, but run quite a few times at Irwindale & a couple at Fontana when it was open. Be prepared the street bike guys try & cherry-pick on the quads. http://www.baronadrags.com/ Hey guys, I want to try something different this summer. I want to asphalt race. For 1/8 mile racing you will be fine with a 5 speed. You will need a 18 & 19 tooth front sprocket and 40,41,42 rears. That's depending on your primaries & weight. The only tire you need to be concerned with is the 10" rim. A 20x8-10 is what we run, but some run the 20x10-10 & 20.5x10-10. The last 2 tires are way two big IMO & need only be run on the bigger bikes. Tracks out here are going to require chain guards & some other safety items also. I can PM you my cell # or you can PM yours if you wish.
SlowerThanYou
Here's a guy that tried cherry-picking on the other quad with us, the slower one of the 2. He jumped up in line about 10 spots & started talking smack. Angel ended up beating him, but he was closing fast.
10milmike
Ok, so I will be ok with my first gear 2-5 override.Plus I do not have straight cuts, this will be my first season so i will buy things as i go, Just need to know what i need to start up. wheelie bar I know, Getting one built as we speak. chain guard? when can i get one for a banshee?? and tires 20x8-10 i am going to buy american racer tires. do i need a lowing link? for the rear and front? I know i am going to have to buy new arms too i have plus 2 with work shocks now. going to buy some shaws and stock width ulta lite arms. Just need to start up then i will change as i go. So I will need a 18 front sprocket also. i have one, with a 40 rear sprocket sitting on my work bench.
SlowerThanYou
Chain guard, use 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 angle aluminum 1/8" thick. The thickness is NHRA rules. Then you have to make mounting straps like we discussed. For gearing, I forgot to talk about that. The 18/40 is a starting point, but I don't think that's the ideal ratio.
