peterlocal22
So Ive done a search but didnt find anything recent and was wondering if anyone has figured out how to get the decibal level under 96 deciblas w Toomey T5's? Looking for guys who are actually running or who have ran the T'5's and had to quite them down. Over ten yrs now with out any problems until today, what a joke! Thanks in advance, Peter
peterlocal22
Will the Hush Kit from Toomey come with any paper work? Thats what the cop said I need to have. Yes cascade does make them for the T5's, I wonder if anyone know if they work or not to keep the decibals under 96?
peterlocal22
Peter, where are you riding? Is it pubic or private? And the hush kit with a sparkie will make it quieter. But I would say to also repack yoir silencers. Hi Zilla, Im riding state trails in NH. The decibel Level has to be below 96. Is it even possible to repack Toomey T5's and have them below 96 decibels? thanks
ATVridinMaNiAc
Damn if they say t-5s are too loud theyll probably bitch about anything, but sparkies or a hush kit is probably your only options. At least you dont have a yfz with a sparks pipe or something or theyd really go nuts.
peterlocal22
i really am considering a four stroke at this point. Ive never owned one but Im feeling like I have no choice.
2strokeshees
The FMF turbine cores with spark arrestors in them are very quiet, I had to buy a set for my girls bike due to regulations, they were ok'd by California Forestry. Good luck, if you get rid of your banshee you will regret it an want another one. That's just how it goes.

sheerider11
4 strokes with performance exhaust are loud as hell Yes!! 4 strokes are way louder then 2 strokes! That sound carries so far. I hear 4 strokes miles away, and can barley here if a 2 stroke is with them.
dave5.0
Ya get some FMF sparkles or some pro circuits. I think JD some of the PCs on maybe CPIs? You could make anything work. I've been thinkin about doin something to make my junk quieter. Getting old I guess. The biggass CFX silencers are looking appealing. rjdgriff
Jd had some bad ass silencers on his old rocket pipes... They were custom done, but I would talk to him about it
Dalton
Properly packed Cascade silencers will get you to 93 decibels.
Azryll
Check the links I posted. Not sure on the paperwork, as I'm sure they don't want to be held liable for anything especially considering they can't tell if your packing is non existent. Unless they dB test it on spot how can the cop tell if it's over or under 90 dB. A piece of paper shouldn't make their mind. If so I will write one up for you Seems as though Cascade and Toomey both say they will pass USFS sound requirement Ya if the cop doesnt' have a DB meter I don't see how that can hold up. Here in Oregon the Forestry department has them but will only test you if you are extremely loud or being a jackass. When was the last time you repacked your silencers? That will help alot
ATVridinMaNiAc
Yea a 4 stroke definitely isnt going to help, even with a stock pipe a 4 strokes sound will carrier more at a distance then even a piped 2 stroke.
bansheesandrider
In Oregon the limit is 97db. The Cascade silencers will get you well below that. They dont come with any paperwork showing this, but you could get a brochure from the Oregon Dunes Area that shows sound test results, they will be listed in that. When I put them on my bike(different pipes) I was tested at 88db.But my friends 2 bikes both have T5s and are legal here.
peterlocal22
How do the cascades look on your bike? You dont happen to have any pics by any chance?
