So I owned a banshee for 2 hours... and then

Well first I will start by saying yes, a few stupid decisions were made that should have been thought out better. So basically I bought this banshee, that apparently only has 3 hours on it since a rebuild, and has sat for around a year. The seller started it, and I rode it to my truck to load it up, all seemed fine. I filled it up with gas and oil, took it for a ride, and I wasn't exactly easy on it. After fifteen minutes of riding the power seemed way down so I headed back to my truck to bring it home. After getting home it felt seized when i tried to kick it , I put it in gear and rocked it back and forward , that freed it up and I was able to start it. I noticed that there was only smoke from the left pipe, then it died and refused to start. I pulled the plugs and kicked it over, it felt like there was compression on both cylinders but this was just putting a finger over the spark plug hole, we also checked for spark and both plugs were sparking. One plug looked normal, the other was soaked in gas. We ended up towing it around with another quad while it was in gear, after turning the engine over for 15 seconds like that it ran for a bit then died. We towed it again to start it, and then my buddy decided to try revving it up, at which point it seized and would not free up this time. So I tore it down and saw this... I'm guessing the connecting rod is probably jammed into the case on the side where the right cylinder used to be. If not then pieces of the engine probably got jammed in the bottom end somewhere. I'm not really sure what to do at this time. Is it worth it rebuilding this engine, or would I be better off finding a replacement? I'm also looking for some speculation on what happened to the engine when the one side stopped firing, when it seized the first time, and when it seized for good.

I told you guys some bad decisions were made, looking forward to your guys' input!

First off Welcome to BansheeHQ :)

Wow what a fuckin mess.

Pull the motor , open it up and start over.  If it was me I would install a 4 mil crank assembly , find a decent set of stock cylinders, and replace the pistons with NEW ones. Keep your eye on the for sale section. There's great deals to be had here. Most of the sellers are trust worthy and offer good parts for great prices. Also follow the proper steps when reassembly takes place. ( Compression test , squish band , Leak down test ) Take your time and do it right the first time. If you need new parts contact the site sponsors here!

Personally I use Brandon @Wildcard Racing. 1-435-623-0148. He's a top builder with excellent customer service.

If you need any help just ask.

Once again,

Welcome

Troy

wow....you did a fuckin number on that thing.  Its toast.  The pull starts literally changed it from a $300 rebuild to a $1000 engine repair in a hurry.  This is why we avoid doing pull start.  If its dies, its for a reason, and if it refuses to start.....well that's for a certain reason too.

Where do you live?  What modifications does the bike currently have? What kind of fuel and oil did you wind up filling it up with?
