Check your ball joints!

I thought I would share this with you guys.

We took a trip to Little Sahara last weekend. Our first ride out we were running the trails along the fence line. I stopped and let the pack go ahead of me and hung back with my wife, she rides an '87 Banshee. I followed her through an S turn, part way through I thought her left tire looked kind of funny, she slowed a little for the switch back and suddenly came to a stop and went up onto the handle bars. The lower left ball joint had seperated. I felt really fortunate that this didn't happen when I was ripping down the drag strip WOT about 10 minutes earlier.

As I was searching this board on a-arms and ball joints I noticed this same thing has happened to many other Banshee owners. I've personally witnessed a lower ball joint failure on an LT250 that was going about 35mph, it was nasty. As this seems to be a consistent weak point on the Banshee I hope everyone takes the time to double check the condition of the lower ball joints. My plan is to modify the stock A-Arms to accept a replaceable aftermarket ball joint.
