high rpm banshee

Recommended Posts

i would guess the a average banshee when revving gets between around 10000 rpm but what would i have to do to get a banshee to rev past 8500 while being in 5th and 6th gear

in other words i wanna be able to turn over allot higher rpms

yes .....save your grumbling i don't know allot about big engine i know a little about small ones my rc boat turns over 17500 rpm yes that is still a small engine i know

but my real question still stands but why do crotch rocket engines hit 12000-14000 but under load a banshee will not do it if this is possible to make my banshee hit alot higher rpms under load what will i have to do to make this happen

Problem is that when two strokes are made to rev higher, they are real weak down low. So if you wanna be able to run a high reving motor Jesus remember the consequences.... Less bottom end performance, more wear on parts.

What kind of riding? And what is the current set up? It might be better to kinda find a nice medium.

A safer way to more speed is more TQ and gear. Ultra high RPM is hard on components and durability.

So you might think about building a motor that revs to say 9500RPM ,but can carry a lot more gear, and you'd go faster and have a longer lasting engine.

Just an idea.

Yes.

Some guys will tell me I'm nuts for this, but running these motors at 10,500 for long periods will definitely start to destroy rings and even scuff the nickasil stuff. That means long duration high RPM stock or any iron bore for that matter wouldn't stand a chance. Once the Pikes Peak guys started messing with the CP stuff and actually carried those kind of RPM's they would start getting scuffed and chafed nickasil after only a few hill races.

Look at a modern 4 stroke piston. It's a glorified dime with rings. A banshee piston has height and mass. Running a Banshee motor at sustained high rpms over 10,500 causes piston tops to begin to lift away from the body of the piston, rings lift clearances change.......it's bad.

Long story short.....don't try to reinvent the wheel. Your going to end up with more negatives than any gains would be worth.

How about telling us your current mods. That way we know how fast you are already going.. For all we know its bone stock.. In that case a set of pipes, timing plate, and a rejet will put a smile on your face for a cheap fix.. Just sayin

X2. And it sounds like you just want more top speed. That doesnt mean you need a high revving motor.
