This might might be a dumb question.

so i posted on here the other day about a hard start and uneven pressure from the pipes on my 04 banshee. i was told to clean carbs. which is what i intend to do, i would today if it wasnt snowing. and it seemed to be solidified today as to that being the case. i went out to start it and it started first kick like it wouldnt do the other day. so im assuming it flooded itself out.

anyways my question is this. while putting my hand behind exhaust to check pressure coming out, i was sprayed with oil. im running it rich cause im new to then and didnt want to blow it up. so am i running it too rich or is this normal maybe? i am running 32:1 oil gas ratio.

and like i said i plan to clean the carbs as i think that will make a world of difference as well. but should i try a leaner gas/oil mix as well?

stator is oem. and i just put plugs in to make sure that wasnt my problem with uneven pressures and hard start. the plugs are temp 9 though. would that make a difference since its like 40 or so out? it had 8s in it and i got a set if new 9s for hill climbing this summer. i have heard they run better but i guess i dont really know. but yeah im running 93 octane and 32:1 or very close to that ratio. also im using amsoil synthetic 2 stroke interceptor oil. juat trying toget it ready for this summet. i havent been able to get it out and really open it up consistently so the carbs might just br building up with crap.

i mixed a full 5 gallons with 20 oz of oil. i found a mixing chart over on everything 2 stroke. thats what it said fir 32:1 was 20oz with 5 gallons i said close cause eye balling i could have been a hair off. it was a new thing of oil so it was full and i used the correct amount. ineed to get a mixing cup to make it easier, but its right close to 32:1

k. its got a 397 stealth kit in it. but ill pick up a guage tonorrow abd see what they are. its definitely running better. just seems like it was flooded to beat hell. so im going to take of the carbs and clean them and check my jet sizes to at least see where im at. have to wait for it to quit snowing so i can get some work done on it. it will be fun mudding this spring anyways.

well i swapped my plugs back to the 8s after torching them and cleaning them up. rode it nice and hard and no more problems. im just not used to a banshee and didnt know i needed to run it so hard to keep the plugs clean and keep it running right. i thought i was running it hard enough but i guess not. o well gives me a good reason to keep the rpms up and have some fun.

Time to re-jet. People who foul plugs have jetting issues.
