banshee#44
Hey guys my friend just took my banshee down the street and came back and now my bike won't shift past 2nd gear . I can't find neutral and the shifter is really stiff. Can anyone explain to me what happened and what I can do to fix it ? I was just talking about today that I didn't have any motor work done because my motor has never failed me yet haha I guess I jinxed myself . trickedcarbine
I'd imagine you have issues with the shift star, or eccentric screw, maybe even the claw on the shift shaft.
sheerider1026
I broke the eccentric off once.. It felt like something was really fucked.. Luckily we had tools and a buddy had a spare with him..

Jereme6655
my question is what were you guys doing to break an eccentric screw off? jumping on the shifter???
sheerider11
That happened to me when I welded my trans gears onto the shaft.
locogato11283
If this is a stock trans, it can be replaced for less than $200. That's if the whole thing is fucked. Drain the trans oil. If something is broken you will most likely see pieces coming out. Then pull the clutch cover.
dozer
I had a cover screw back out on the flywheel side and wedge against my shifter once. We pulled the clutch cover and all of before we realized what had happened so may wanna check that first.
trickedcarbine
Yeah, it's funny how we always chase the worst case scenario in stead of just dealing with the simple stuff. I chased a jetting issue, then even thought the motor was letting go. Once I get home and start taking it apart I noticed the choke on my PJ carbs was getting bumped against the pipes and gradually lifting it till it snapped open. I made some cool extended choke knobs out of polished SS brake line and was good to go.
