What size domes would I use to have the same compression on my cool head as I do know milled down 50 thousandths?

My bad and I apologize. I have no idea what the compression is. I just figured someone would have a close estimate on how much compression milling the head down 50 thousandths would add. Then after that, match that increase in compression, to how much compression the different size domes would increase it.

The work done to the cylinders would play no factor in this equation. They are a constant. I'm only changing the head. Cylinders will be staying the same.

For example if I had a stock head, that wasn't milled down at all, I would use 22cc domes to keep the same compression. The fact that it is ported and polished has the same effect as the extended A arms,. Right? I'm sure someone out there has an idea how many cc domes is damn near the same as a head milled 50 thousandths.

actually porting a motor DOES have an effect on the compression.  When the cylinders are ported, the port timings are adjusted according to what type of port job is done to your motor.....which will actually drop your compression.  So say taking a stock bike and putting say 22cc domes in a cool head may get you "x" compression.....but after a port job your compression would be less.....

So to help with what your asking.....we would need some of the following info:

Is it ported (and what kind of port by who)

what your current setup is

what your elevation is (as compression decreases with elevation)

and what your current compression is

along with what your trying to achieve (as in making it safer to run on straight pump fuel)

Also learn how to word your question better. sounds like your not milling shit. sounds like you have a head milled .050 and want to switch to a coolhead but dont know what domes to buy. i rec you cc what you have and get back to us. how do you know you dont jave a cut and rechambered head

Your right, I'm not milling. The milling has been done by Sam Co in SD CA. I have a milled head and want to buy the correct domes for a coolhead. I just want to take the head that has been milled 50 thousandths and swap to the coolhead and keep the same compression.

The cylinders have been Dune ported and polished.

So, with as little saracasm as possible..... Why would you ask a question, then when someone asks you the info needed to determine the answer you make it clear you are more then knowledgable in the situation? When clearly your response is really just an uneducated regurgitation of bits and pieces of knowledge you have picked up here and there.

You should also note your elevation as well, or is that another one of those constants?

I really am sorry guys. I know that everything changes my compression, But when I take the milled head off and put on the coolhead with ??cc domes. The compression will be the same. Nothing has been done to the head that is on there except that it was milled 50. A head milled 50thousandths = a NOSS coolhead with ??cc domes.

If it helps, lets just say the bike is stock with just a milled head. What size domes should I buy for my coolhead that is sitting on my work bench?
