CodyRosa
Hi everyone, Me and my dad just traded for a 92 Banshee that supposedly only needed a kicker gear. We bought a good kicker gear and then took the right side cover to find the gear on the kicker was still good and looked fine. I'm guessing the kicker idler gear is the one right behind the clutch basket? That one wobbles (I heard that's a common problem that can cause a LOT of damage) left and right quite bad. I didn't see any damage to the gear itself nor the primary gear or any gears in general. I'm guessing bushing broke? There was one metal shaving and that was it. I'm trying to remove the old kicker gear shaft but its not coming out(i have the white plastic, spring and gear off the shaft) Shouldn't that shaft just pull right out with no problems?? How do i put a new bushing on that idler gear? Do I need to take the clutch basket off? Does it require splitting the case? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: 2nd question: We were told the coolant lines must have a hole because there was a leak, well the guy must have been stupid because it took me 2 seconds to realize the lines are fine but its leaking on the two nuts on the bottom.(I hear thats because a O ring?) I noticed it was in the front of the case like a gasket leak.. we saw the gasket and it looks quite done for. Where does the O ring go? My dad thought this was the O ring and hit it with a screwdriver haha. What is this piece so we can replace it? http://imgur.com/tJ4TG35&iDUZORT&EvteSpz This is how much the gear moves: http://imgur.com/tJ4TG35&iDUZORT&EvteSpz#1 http://imgur.com/tJ4TG35&iDUZORT&EvteSpz#2 It was touching that primary gear Thanks for any help. 250rbanshee
The first pic is a vent hole. No o ring there. There is an o ring that goes on the coolant tube. And yes you gotta pull the clutch basket to replace the idler gear. It could just be missing the washer and snap ring...they are bad about coming off. CodyRosa
Ok thank you! I'll be pulling that clutch basket tomorrow hopefully. Does anyone have a picture where that O ring is on the coolant tube? I've never actually been in a banshee motor so I have no clue. Thanks
Finch
If I were you I'd down load or buy a clymers manual.

hoppedupandcutdown
http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=170 Link to an idler gear bushing, I pressed the old one out using the new one going in, with a bench vise. Larry's Shee
You're going have to be more descriptive or post pics of where the leak is.
CodyRosa
Thanks Hoppedup I think that's it lol I'm pretty sure there isn't even a O ring right there. There were a few little squirts of coolant on that clutch basket so I'm gonna guess that's where it is. I'm gonna run outside now and look and see if it even has one. Starwriter
How about the Yamaha dealer in your town? Also, now that you've FUBARed the vent fitting, pound it out from the outside. (pound it towards the inside). Back it up with a piece of pipe so you don't bust a hole in your cover. Then block it off with this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Banshee-Clutch-Cover-Vent-Block-off-Plate-/110747369144?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19c90ebeb8&vxp=mtr You only need the vent at the back of the motor. That clutch cover vent is dumb.
CodyRosa
Yea I can have my dad run to the yamaha dealer and check. So that clutch vent is pointless? Thanks for all the help everyone
Starwriter
So that clutch vent is pointless? Thanks for all the help everyone Yes. Most aftermarket clutch covers don't even have a hole there.
