Gas Prices vs. Racing Trip Distance

Recommended Posts

A weekend or 3 days at the race track is not vacation. Its like working, only worse!

LOL Don't forget to add in all the "Night before the race" wrenching.  Don't know why, but the wrenches are always flying the night before the trailer gets loaded.

Guess its a good thing for us we only have to drive a couple hours tops to ride Michigan huh Windy?

Yup. (4 1/2 hours there and 4 back) I can make it there and back on just 2 tanks total. I spit costs when I can since I have a crew cab and can play taxi for 1 or 2 friends. On the July trip, my wife rode so much that we spent more on race gas than I did on the truck. LMAO

I really want to head to Glamis and ride with my buddy Mailman one of these days. But the ride season there is right in the heart of my HVAC Heating season. So....it's not the gas...it's the loss of income.

I'll do the whole shipping container deal one of these days, then just fly out and ride. But with an economy in the toilet.....trips like that are not in the budget right now.

When we all go to glamis, its about 2200 miles. Diesel was 4.09 to 4.35 a gallon. There were three guys splitting the bill. But let me tell you its worth it every time. (For me that is). We only get to go once a year, so even if the fuel went to 6.00 a gallon we would still do it. Its hanging with my friends that makes that trip fun.
