terry_j
Hey guys, I'm looking for a little help to find a starting point before I fire it. The bike is .30 over, chariot head w 23 cc domes, pro cir pipes, 38mm carb, kn with no air box, rad valves, no timing advance as of yet. Just rebuilt the engine....it was lean before the rebuild. I bought it wounded. Had old dg pipes on it and a stock head. So with the changes does anyone have any ideas where I should start with my jets? I'd rather start a little fat to break it in.....I know everyone hates the two to one...but it's what was on there already. Also I'm in Detroit area as far as elevation. Any help would be appreciated. Fine tuning won't Be an issue , I just want to break it in safely.
Surfrjag
i would start with a 58 pilot eek needle with clip all the way down and a 185 main jet. that should be rich enough..
terry_j
Thx guys! as soon as I get a chance I need to see what's in it. Should be something on the needle to tell what it is?
terry_j
I got into all this bc they blew a piston...and they just rebuilt the top end. Well it was a bad crank bearing from the get go. So it smoked the new piston right away. I replaced the crank, and did a few upgrades along the way. I figure it will be a decent trail rider with this setup. Hopefully reliable anyhow. terry_j
They looked like they may have been cleaned up possibly. This is my first shee. I'm going to say no tho they didn't look reworked. Just maybe cleaned up if that makes any sense. I inherited someones abortion.
sheerider1026
I run a single 33 pwk. EEK needle.. Middle clip.. 45 pilot, 165 main.. So fuckng crisp. The topend feels a tad rich so i may drop to a 160 tho for the summer.. 165 is fine in the winter..
terry_j
I stuck with big domes so I wasn't married to race fuel. Next one I'm going nuts with . This ones my learning curve.
terry_j
So the eek needle for sure if it's not already there I take it?
sheerider1026
I run 19cc domes... Cyls are ported just a lil bit . 158 psi in each hole.. +5.5 timing... Runs great. I personally like the EEK over any other needle i tried.. Easier to tune and was very crisp on transitioning from the pilot to the main.. Just try it
terry_j
I know I pussed on the domes a tad....they were there and cheap. I'll prob bump the comp when I do the timing advance. I just didn't want to go crazy before I made this thing run ya know.

terry_j
Rebuilt the whole engine. I think that's the general opinion on them. It was already on there so I'm going to run it. It's just for mild trail riding so I think it will be ok. I'm sure it's not the best setup, but I'm sure it will run good enough.
