kshoulde35
only transmission mod is the shift mod for easier shifting... no override or lockup... it is fully drag ported but i was not able to find out the carb size from the current owner i have to get in touch with the guy who built the motor... its running 7.12 in the 1/8 with a 230lb rider as is
kshoulde35
I kinda wanted to stay away from alky since im not too experienced and wanna try to do as much of the work as far as future improvements myself but i guess wat better way to learn its gonna be strictly a drag bike anyway
kshoulde35
F alky. Stay on gas, keep it simple and save your top-ends. lol kinda what i was thinking.... want a nice balance between performance and reliability
sandbum80
First thing I would get is a lockout and do some tuning with it yours 60fts will be a noticeable diffrence. Alky is no trouble after its tuned in and a incredible improvement just have to purge line after racing 5min to do. And you can have your carbs converted. Tyson racing can do it for you (248-755-5060) or any site sponser.
sprinklerman
F alky. Stay on gas, keep it simple and save your top-ends. Meh , i disagree ^^ I haven't touched Alky in 15yrs,then threw my bike back together friday, put it on Alky and ran at a T&T Saturday. No problems,,in fact i forgot how easy it is to tune compared to Gas. Ran a 4.48 right out of the box without any tuning. Yes i had to purge at the end of the day. Took me all of 10minutes using an old coolant overflow bottle. IMO, it was a lot easier than i remember it being, running it and tuning it. kshoulde35
what other things are necessary? pingle? fuel pump? holes in gas tank?
JayCLL
Dual pingle, run gravity carbs
sprinklerman
Gas, oil. Run. No purging after. Simple, always works, not tempermental You're probably saying that because you popped your motor on Alky i bet?? ,,and gas ALWAYS works?? Alky is not temperamental if you start rich and gradually lean it down,,and then don't get greedy. It actually has MORE forgiveness when it comes to tuning...a much wider range where itll work good , as compared to gas. Im thinking you are just prejudiced against Alky because of a bad experience,, dont blame the fuel, blame the tuner.
sandbum80
I disagree with you, we have a very high hp 10mm cub that is ran hard, going on 4 seasons now and the motor has not dropped 1 psi in compression, nor been opened up once. Its all in the build and tuning, obviously yours was not tuned right. IF you had the carbs setup for alchol, and checked your plugs while still in tuning phase you would not have blown it up UNLESS the motor was not put together right from the start.
sandbum80
7-10% + cooling= races won. Just because YOU had a bad experience with it doesn't mean you can down talk it, because the fact if you did tune it correctly and your bike was setup properly for it you would be up talking it right now. Very true.^^ And im not saying its for everyone ,,and its not a "miracle fuel",,but its not as bad as LILSTVN makes it out to be. In all actuality its EASIER to tune than gas....IDK why he cant grasp that fact. I was putting it off myself to be honest...I had my self convinced it was "too much trouble"...ended up being an easy , painless switch. I had remembered it being harder to do than it was. ( I had used it in 1999 on a set of stock carbs ,on a 350cc, that i was helped to modify to Alky use). Facts are that LILSTVN popped his motor because of operator error or oversight by the user...that's not the fuels fault, its the operators. Im sure you've said the same thing to some "NEWB" who popped his motor while on gas.
