2wheelturned4
has anyone had their banshee just die for no apparent reason, then after sometime just start again like there was nothing wrong? i was on a trail ride yesterday and probably an hour and a half into it, cruising along a firetrail in 4th maybe half throttle and my bike kinda popped and cut out. i thought it had blown again as it was similar to the last time it shat itself. after borrowing a bike to get the car and maybe an hour had passed i kicked the bike over and it started first kick, ran excellent again. i was ready to throw it in the bin when it died... this has me fucked at what it could be, any help? bike is an 03 with athena 392cc kit, vitos pistons, fmf ssts, power core 2s, k&n filter with foam outawear, airbox with no lid, 27.5 pilots, 280 mains, needles in the middle position

wfobasheeboy
I had a CDI BOX do the same thing. If you have a friend with a banshee try his and see if that fixes it.
trickedcarbine
Do you have NGK plugs? Always check that the little node on the top is screwed on tight. Had my bike not run right multiple times because of that.
2wheelturned4
the plugs are fine, i had a mate (not to bright!) hold his finger in the cap and i kicked it but no spark. came back with my ute an hour later and it started first kick... i am thinking maybe the jetski style kill switch maybe a bit shit?? i did pull it out then plug it back in but it just seems a little strange to happen as im just cruising along
apeik
I always screw the cap on New plugs with pliers, then take side cutters and cut diagonally across the narrow part of the aluminum cap to crimp it in place, they never move after that. Jereme6655
is it a spark issue or could it also be a fuel issue? im wondering if you were running the bolwls dry on your carbs without realizing it.........check your electrical connections, check the wiring to make sure its not melted or pinched somewhere, check and clean your carbs to make sure the float isn't sticking, and check your fuel cap and your fuel cap vent tube for something blocking it.....remember if those get blocked....your tank is going to go under negative pressure.... 2wheelturned4
it seemed to be a spark issue as when i kicked it while my mate had his finger in the cap he got nothing. It has the jetski style kill switch on it, could this have a shit connection or something? i wont be able to have a look for the next week and when i can have a look at it the bike will be going with me on a trip down south, i just dont want it shitting itself while on holidays. the bike was running at a good temp to, just seems strange that it would go from no spark to perfect spark again without doing anything except the kill switch

So no it's not strange. You probably fucked up some where. Go check again on this thing. Also, what is a jet ski style kill switch
Jereme6655
from what I gather he's talking about a tether switch....
2wheelturned4
yeh sorry for not being clearer on that, its a tether switch, its just easier to explain sometimes as i have seen more jetskis with them... no its not a recent addition, its been on the bike for as long as iv owned it ( the last 9 months ) and it looks as if its been on the bike for a few years. Sorry if my questions seem stupid, im new to banshees and im learning as im going along. Cheers for the help so far
sheerider11
Okay got it. I thought for some reason you just put it on. Now like someone else said, do you have some one you can swap a cdi with? I had a cdi just go out like my bike ran out of gas
2wheelturned4
i may be able to get my hands on a cdi in about a month, just wont be home until then to swap parts... and thats if he will play the game, he can be a bit of a knob when it comes to his bikes...
